Re: 2011 Oscar Predictions

Holy crap.  This is the first time in years I haven't seen a single, solitary nominee in the best film category.

I did see Shutter Island, though.  The only film mentioned in your entire post that I have seen.  And didn't like it.  I won't blow it for anyone who hasn't seen it, but I thought they fumbled a potentially great, supernatural mind-bender of a twist.

Re: 2011 Oscar Predictions

Damn, i haven't seen any of the best pictures either. Weirdness. Whats with Black Swan, i haven't heard anything about it

Re: 2011 Oscar Predictions

You will be hearing a lot about these films in the upcoming weeks. If you havnt seen the Black Swan trailer go check it out!! Let's just say it ends very Lynchian smile

Re: 2011 Oscar Predictions

I'll also point out if Terrance Malick's The Tree of Life actually comes out it will be in every category!!

Re: 2011 Oscar Predictions

See, this is where my problem with the Academy comes in.  How are films which haven't been released yet even nominated?  I know they have certain guidelines and by-laws and their requirements for nominated films are -- well, let's face it, pure crap and are totally biased -- but one would think that before a film can be called Oscar worthy, someone would have to have seen it first.

Re: 2011 Oscar Predictions

LoudLon you bring up a great point. But I'm a hell of a gambler and I love to predict smile

Re: 2011 Oscar Predictions

Black Swan looks pretty neat, LOL at first i was like AW HEEEALLL no. But the trailer got pretty interesting

Re: 2011 Oscar Predictions

I wouldn't even watch half the shit on there list. Pathetic

10

Re: 2011 Oscar Predictions

I have really high hopes for The Social Network i think its gonna be amazing

Re: 2011 Oscar Predictions

fuck the oscars

they dont prove shit - other than there is a huge group of wanker fuckheads out there with no style or taste in entertainment

the oscars are bullshit and controlled by the FAGs of the film industry

so i predict the 2011 Oscars will suck shit and some shit film will win 80% of the shit categories

Re: 2011 Oscar Predictions

Inception would sure win the Academy Awards for Best Picture.
I'm putting my bet now.

Re: 2011 Oscar Predictions

I think your predictions are pretty spot on dude.

Re: 2011 Oscar Predictions

I can't complain there, I think Inception, Black Swan and Social Network will fight for most of the awards.  I hear Eddie Vedder might be up for one for his song in Eat Love Pray which would be awesome given I love PJ!!

Re: 2011 Oscar Predictions

I predict my Oscar will continue to inadvertently bump into the aquarium glass.
He's pretty old, you see.

oscar, shmosker

Re: 2011 Oscar Predictions

Its going to be a fight between The Social Network, Black Swan, The Fighter and Inception for best picture. I think The Social Network will win, given the massive amout of awards praise so far.

Re: 2011 Oscar Predictions

I predict I will watch the Oscars just to see the forced jovial looks on the faces of those who lose, while giving very little regard to the actual films themselves, none of which particularly interested me.  I'll root for my preferred actors/actresses/writers/directors based on how big a fan I am, but I couldn't care less about what movies are nominated. lol

Re: 2011 Oscar Predictions

I'd be pissed if Social Network won, Black Swan and Inception have more going for them.  Especially Black Swan right now is being flooded with fantastic reviews.  Inception is no Memento for Christopher Nolan, but I think he could snag up the Director statue

Re: 2011 Oscar Predictions

Black Swan hasn't even opened here yet but I am dying to see it. It's getting great reviews.

Re: 2011 Oscar Predictions

Black Swan is fucking amazing. I'm hoping it wins a lot.

Re: 2011 Oscar Predictions

Not to rain on anyones parade but I think the oscars are a joke and mean nothing at all whether a film is good or bad. Its a good lay on the couch or I should say "the best lay on the couch"
How many times does a great flick not even get mentioned and the shit get elected mad its a joke it means squat! WHY do you horror fans give a Shit?

I know this is in mainstream crap but still LOL

I am a film fan first and foremost! I like to see what awards hollywood give hollywood. It's inherently interesting. To each their own but it's fun to follow awards season because I am a film fan and yes not since the 70's and a bit of the 80's has the Academy given proper awards but I have faith it will get back to the good old days.

Re: 2011 Oscar Predictions

Nice list but I pretty much hate the oscars and everything they represent about the industry
