Re: Let’s make a scary story

As her bare feet trampled damp forest earth and her blood pumped white hot through her veins, a single word repeated itself in Elisa's mind -- "Escape."

Re: Let’s make a scary story

If only she had never stopped for them, but they looked so harmless; who could have  suspected what they were capable of, with their two small children in tow?

Re: Let’s make a scary story

She leaned against a tree to catch her breath and could hear their footfalls, running at first ,but then they stopped .

Re: Let’s make a scary story

Elisa knew they were following her,  She tryed to remember where that old cabin was in the woods.

Re: Let’s make a scary story

The sight of a blood smeared tree trunk told her she’d been going in circles.

Re: Let’s make a scary story

As she tried desperately to catch her breath she heard the soft, moist rustling of damp leaves from somewhere close -- too close.

Re: Let’s make a scary story

Again, escape, escape thundered in her mind, run, run faster, for if you stop now they will gain on you, but who are they?

Re: Let’s make a scary story

A giggle, to her left -- not sinister, only high-pitched, playful.

Re: Let’s make a scary story

But beyond the borders of the Earth, with vast and intellectual species, she was one of them, she was only human..

Re: Let’s make a scary story

A effervescent light, softly protruding through the forest rose above her, calling her by name, " Elisa," as if it was her kin

Re: Let’s make a scary story

She stared for a moment at the light which shone through the forest ceiling like slivers of light though a back-lit green canopy, but the playful laughter she had heard a moment before returned, snapping her out of shock and back into cold, hard reality.

Re: Let’s make a scary story

Why did the voices, child like in tone, alien in demeanor, sound so familiar, and why could she not place them?

Re: Let’s make a scary story

Sympathetic and sophisticated it sounded, but she could not speak of it, as it sounded familiar enough to prevail her mind of all thoughts, for an unsuspecting evil placed itself in an unsuspecting planet..

Re: Let’s make a scary story

Elisa sprang forward, running at full speed. Don't look back she kept repeating in her head. Then out of nowhere...SWACK!!! Elisa lay on the ground, her vision blurred...

Re: Let’s make a scary story

" Think...Think, think,"...Escape, Run, ESCAPE, run, and don't let the voices find you again. *Blacks Out.*

Re: Let’s make a scary story

Elisa awoke to an overwhelming acidic smell as she raised her bruised head and focused sharply on the tree directly above her, noticing an almost transparent child-like shape perched in the branches.

Re: Let’s make a scary story

She so badly wanted this to all be a dream, yet there was no denying it weren't, it was a nightmare...and that putrid odor which penetrated her nostrils and sifted into her lungs, lingering like that of a decayed animal, now became unbearable

Re: Let’s make a scary story

The transparent shape giggled childishly in a sharp tone and raised it's hand and pointed to her.  It was wished to speak to her.  Elisa felt a connection to the shape, as if it knew her.

Re: Let’s make a scary story

" Mommy," the child said. I'm scared! Why have you been gone so long? I missed you mommy. Then it occurred to Elisa that it wasn't a voice she was hearing. It was a thought in her head communicated non vocally. Telepathy?  Elisa began to weep.

Re: Let’s make a scary story

Holding her hands to her face as she cried she surrounded herself in darkness only to pull her hands away a moment later to wipe the tears and see she was no longer in the forest.

Re: Let’s make a scary story

Surreal as it were, Elisa was floating up now. Enveloped and wrapped entirely inside the bathing light to which she had tried to escape from, now felt comforting. Embracing her like a mother embraces her new born child.

Re: Let’s make a scary story

As she got closer to her destination, part of her subconscience felt a pang of panic. .  again... "Escape.."

Re: Let’s make a scary story

The word became an internal chorus as the child like thing's voice desperately joined with her own subconscious; warning, pleading.

Re: Let’s make a scary story

No nurses or guards noticed the young woman in the straightjacket hovering a foot above the padded room’s floor, her restraints loosened as she thrashed immersed in a horrible dream.
