Topic: Battle LA (2011)

Even though it's been out for awhile, has anyone seen this yet? Even though it's not a horror movie, it definitly is scary looking seeing something like a world-wide alien invasion happen.  I'm a big alien invasion movie fan so I'll have to check this out.

Watched it last wk end and really liked it, Tri. I think you will to. Plenty of stuff being blown up and a good pace.

I heard Ne-Yo (the musician) is in this. How was his acting in this? I can't picture a rapper doing a descent job in a big movie.

^^ IMO- good. Not sure what it is about rappers (Eminem, Ice cube), but most of them do a pretty good job acting.

If Aaron Eckhart can portray a kickass version of Two-Face in TDK then I would imagine he'd do a kickass job at portraying a soldier blowing up aliens.

I really didn't care for this film...the CGI was bas as well as the dialogue...the action was well done but I just didn't care about any of the characters...Plus the scene with the pep talk to the little kid made me roll my eyes...real bad
I don't know...I thought this film was gonna be way different based on the trailers...it ended up being more a of a recruiting video towards the end...and I have nothing against the military...I have several family members in various branches...it just didn't work for the film

I actually really enjoyed it. Sure it got really sappy sometimes, like that speech that Eckhart made when they got to the base, but I loved the action and it's such a new take on the alien invasion movies. I liked that the aliens were like some alien cyborg and I was under the impression that they were forcefully mutated for the war making them seem a little more sympathetic. Their technology was more advanced than us but seemed dirty, rough and raw. With the good action sequences, bad dialogue, stale characters and lots of explosions... I saw it as this millennium's Independence Day.

I caught this Wednesday, I thought it was awesome! It's clearly inspired by the original War Of The Worlds, but it's by far one of the best renditions of that story line in recent years. Up there with District 9. I've hated a lot of the alien invasion movies from recent, this one was killer though.

I hated this movie. The scene with Eckhart's speech to the kid killed it. It was so bad people were laughing. Not to mention, the lady who is a vet so that qualifies her to inspect an alien species. They should've fixed the script first.
