Re: HM [Now Virtual, Maybe] HorrorFest 2011
Now we just need to figure out how to do it.

Re: HM [Now Virtual, Maybe] HorrorFest 2011
well it could be as simple as picking 5 really cool movies and setting the week we are going to watch them and discuss them. Like a book club only far more bad ass namely horror flicks

Re: HM [Now Virtual, Maybe] HorrorFest 2011
^^^ Good idea- OK peoples, start firing off movies you'd like to review/discuss/masticate. Let's try to include some old, new, classic, maybe a little known one, etc. Variety! [edit- I'll keep count]

Re: HM [Now Virtual, Maybe] HorrorFest 2011
im thinking we need to pick a couple good movies available for rent or on Netflix so we can include as many people as possible. You can then do the writeup as a piece on site and folks can share their 5 cents on each film. We could make it an on going theme where each month we pick say 5 movies from different genres of horror and at the end of the month you could do a writeup with your thoughts on the 5 films and we as the community can then comment with our thoughts.

Re: HM [Now Virtual, Maybe] HorrorFest 2011
Or, we could pick a certain sub-genre, director, actor, whatever each month and do 5 (or whatever number) movies. Say, April is zombie month, May is John Carpenter, June is Nightmare on Elm Street, July is Christopher Lee, etc etc.? Mix and match as we please. That way we could get different movies & reviews, but on a similar subject. Thoughts? Hmm, I have an idea.... I'll be back....

ehh, the #1 comment just threw me. Now if we can get some more interest from some other people, we'll be in good shape.

Re: HM [Now Virtual, Maybe] HorrorFest 2011
I'd never give up on HM, just seems like no one is interested in even doing the coordinated movie review thing.
Re: HM [Now Virtual, Maybe] HorrorFest 2011
Short moment of seriousness...I am interested, but currently lack the tech to join in. Not saying that I'm not willing to purchase theses things though, all stuff I want but have always put off in favor of spending dollars other ways. If this thing gets off of the ground I would most deffinately join in at some point. Edit: I now return to my default sarcasm funtion.

Re: HM [Now Virtual, Maybe] HorrorFest 2011
Hang in there senor chango. It's Sat and a lot of the regular HM.ca'ers are probably doing other things tonight. Unlike us who have kids, wife/hubby, ie... no life. I'm interested and not only would it be a lot of fun, but also it would help me with the jitters I get when trying to write reviews. I need the practice. Can't make any promise about how many movies I will be able to watch, because of my 5 kids, and I'm always on the go it seems. But never the less, you can count me in.

Well, you have a computer, so there is Skype (a free software program). Nothing extra needed (OK, you need to sign up, but like I said it's free). If you don't have a webcam, then you just get to look at and mock us. I don't think we're trying to build Skynet, just a little chit-chat.

^Wonders of the world around us my simian friend, 1000 plus posts all from an android powered cell phone. No computer, no home internet. Like I said though, all things that I am wanting to get anyways...unfortunately working in social services is not the most profitable of careers...

my bad, my friend. Never thought of a cell phone poster! We'll see what we can do, if we even do it, which is looking less likely.
Re: HM [Now Virtual, Maybe] HorrorFest 2011
I work for a non-profit chemical dependancy treatment center. I am a "Housing Support Specialist", which is just another way of saying "the guy who comes around to the transitional housing apartments and make guys pee in cups and gives people breathalyzers then kicks out all the ones who decided to go out and get wasted until they can come back sober"....I really like the second one but it was a bitch to try and fit on my office door. Edit: No worries Az, I really need to get a pc soon anyway...and this whole reveiw thing doesn't need to have a deadline on it or anything...just keep at it until you get enough interested people, you haven't even been floating it around for 24 hours yet

Re: HM [Now Virtual, Maybe] HorrorFest 2011
Huh? How did I miss this entire thread? Dude -- I think someone's slipping something into my Diet Coke. Fucker, whoever it is. I'm totally down for this. We tried something like this several years ago on the website I used to review for; we'd assign a movie for folks to watch over a weekend, then dedicate an entire thread just to discussion on that film. It went on for about a month, but people grew bored with it because people kept assigning movies which everybody had already seen numerous times, and had already talked about numerous times. So as far as any input I might have, I would only suggest assigning such movies rarely. For instance, you wouldn't want to assign Dawn of the Dead because as great a movie as it is, it's been discussed almost to death. Y'know, that kind of thing. Just my two cents. But yeah, I'm down for this.

Cool, sunglassed friend. I don't think it would be too hard to come up with some way-out-there films.
