Topic: We Want to Suck Your Blood, Slash Your Throat & Spit on Your Grave

The Midnight Black International Festival Of Darkness has officially opened it's call for submissions for the 2011 season. We shall accept entries of films and screenplays of all lengths of the Horror,  Sci-Fi and Exploitation genres from every corner of the globe.

We shall seek out the best of those films featuring the most brutal, violent, and powerful images ever burned into celluloid!

These films will include samurai sword eviscerations, blood geyser showers, eyeball slicing, and all of the most deadly styles of kung fu, shotgun decapitations, and full-blown flamethrower torching!

Although we love conventional horror, we are not looking to create the typical platform of blood and guts. We are interested in unearthing cutting-edge films that represent new genres of horror and  Sci-Fi, as well.

No matter what kind of film or screenplay you may have, whether it’s a slasher or a ghost story, a zombie flick or a horror comedy, a suspense thriller or a horror documentary or experimental or even a horror animation, we want to see it.

Midnight Black International Festival Of Darkness shall showcase films that are made in the style of those underrated and misunderstood cult horror, exploitation and shock films that have captured the attention and entertained audiences around the world for decades, in addition to customary blood and guts horror flicks.  We are looking for the films that audiences can’t and won’t forget.

Our categories will include horror, exploitation, Wicca oriented and shock Horror, Thriller, Science Fiction, Suspense, Slasher, Mystical, Magical and Fantasy films, Grindhouse Horror, Horror Documentary, Horror Animation, Horror Experimental, Supernatural and student films and screenplays.

Our Screenplay Competition was created in order to give filmmakers andwriters in the horror/sci-fi genres a venue to have their work showcased to people in the industry.

The Midnight Black International Screenplay Competition offers aspiring and veteran screenwriters in the horror and sci-fi genres a chance to have their work recognized by not only their peers, but by the people in the industry who count.

The screenplay competition offers a $500 prize award for the grand winner, along with other prizes for the winner & top runners-up.

Re: We Want to Suck Your Blood, Slash Your Throat & Spit on Your Grave

Is this guy serious?  Check out the fees you need to pay for this fest, which by the way has no date nor location that I can find on that pathetic website.  I'd report it, but you folks first have to check out the site for the lowest form of promotion I've seen in a long time.

What an awesome mess.

Re: We Want to Suck Your Blood, Slash Your Throat & Spit on Your Grave

We are an online festival, which is clearly stated on our website:

"Unlike almost all other festivals, ours is not limited by time in how many films we can screen at the fest. Simply put, if a film is good, it will be accepted and screened without time constraints.

Midnight Black screens all films in the newest cutting-edge format, interactively in our virtual online theater. This technology allows independent filmmakers and fans to take pleasure in the films worldwide and on the go, from work and from the comfort of their own homes. Let's not forget the travel time and expense our festival will save, not to mention the convenience our festival offers to distributors searching for the next blockbuster smash hit.

Communication and convenience is a must in the world we live in.  With the technology now available and places like Netflix and Blockbuster online putting films at our fingers tips, this is the next step in the evolution of film festivals.

You do not have to worry about your film being downloaded, the films HAVE NO EMBEDDING CODE and if the HTML code is copied and pasted, the films will not play on any other website but ours. The only time and place they can be viewed is in our festival.  As with conventional film festivals, only festival attendees who purchase a ticket will be able to watch the films.

With this unique system, the filmmaker’s work is as safe as possible and the audiences experience is as convenient and pleasant as anybody could make it."

How is our information a mess and why should we be reported? Because you have an opinion that you do not like our website?

Sure we may be "another film festival" popping up left & right, but unlike many of those festivals, we are not here for ourselves but for the filmmaker and scriptwriter. We are a group who take "No Money" from this event for ourselves but to put it back into the festival to pay for awards, website hosting and software along with the fees taken from withoutabox.com.

Unless you are running Sundance, Cannes, Tribecca, or any of the TOP festivals, there is NO rich money and becoming famous  in running a festival and anyone who starts one thinking they are going to get rich quick have really bad news coming to them.

It may take us a few years to prove we are here for the filmmakers and scriptwriters and we will stick around as long as it takes and have no plans on ending this festival any time soon.

So if you want to report us because we are an online festival who put the fees back into the festival and are here for those interested in getting their work out there and recognized. Go ahead and report us.

Besides $20 is not a huge fee ($15 on WAB) every festival starts out with a low fee for their early bird deadline and each deadline increases the fee amount a little each time.

Our website is no different than any other festival's site, so to say we have a pathetic site is saying all festival have one.

Sometimes people should think about what they are about to post for all to see and analyze how it can be viewed and comprehended by other readers.

A post such as yours makes it sound as if you have a personal vendetta.

Re: We Want to Suck Your Blood, Slash Your Throat & Spit on Your Grave

I wouldn’t say vendetta, apprehensive is better. Forums get a lot of spam especially this one. Anytime someone posts something for a contest or festival no one’s heard off that requires a large entry fee, that sends up red flags. So you can’t really blame him for being apprehensive.
As for the whole “I’ll report you” thing, he suffers (like a few others on here) from turrets syndrome, and you really should try and be more understanding.

He used to call me chicken F_cker,( I tell you, you build a hundred bridges and it’s possible no one calls you  a bridge builder, but you…)

Re: We Want to Suck Your Blood, Slash Your Throat & Spit on Your Grave

I understand. I do apologize for coming on strong. As with filmmakers and scriptwriters working hard to get their work out their on the web, festival directors must do the same.

I have read a lot about festivals starting up and before you know it, they have screwed a few people out of money that could have been used to submit to a festival more known among the film community.

It's very hard in this business to know who is out there for the real deal and who's going to be a fly by night scam.

The independent film business is a tough place to be for all involved. Especially, when you don't know who to trust.

I would prefer not to look at it as a business but the bottom line, that's what it is.

I would love some feedback in regards to our website and festival. We did our research prior to opening our call for entries and what we have seems to be what other festivals are offering, but it's the filmmakers & scriptwriters we're here for so your input would be very much appreciated.

Send me a private message if you don't want others to read your suggestions or post them here for other festivals to understand what you want. I'll definitely give the suggestions to our staff during our next meeting and though we cannot do anything this year, we can include them for next year.

Thanks swollenguy for your comment.

Re: We Want to Suck Your Blood, Slash Your Throat & Spit on Your Grave

Midnight, didn't mean to ruffle your feathers.  As Swollen said, we have a lot of spam for less than reputable or even fake events.  Mea culpa.
