Topic: I need some help choosing Genres for movies
I am helping Meh out by attaching a Genre tag to the Movies in Morguespace. Do you think we need more sub-genres such as Giallo, Found Footage, or Demons? Or should Demons ie...Night of the Demons, Evil Dead, Demons 1 and 2 go under Zombie or Supernatural? Any Suggestions for other Sub-Genres?
Re: I need some help choosing Genres for movies
Of the movies mentioned I would consider them possession or demonic possession horror movies.
Re: I need some help choosing Genres for movies
many films fit into several sub-genres... you should attach several sub-genres to each film when necessary.. for instance Death Proof could be Carsploitation, slasher, exploitation, thriller etc...
Re: I need some help choosing Genres for movies
yes I have been adding many sub-genres to each
Re: I need some help choosing Genres for movies
How about a cannibal sub genre? Or witch\Black Magic? Killer Clowns? Toys?

Oh man! Do not put non Zombie movies under a Zombie tag around here...can feel blood boiling. A Demon tag is good. Def Found Footage, Vampire, Paranormal, Romance, Werewolf. Hmmm...all I can think of other than the obvious.
Re: I need some help choosing Genres for movies
LOL...Oh man, the pressure...I know, I know Cabin Fever is NOT a zombie movie either. The categories are... 3D Anthology Comedy Foreign Monster Revenge Slasher Torture Western Alien Apocalypse Comic Indie Musical Romance Supernatural Vampire Zombie Animated Mad Doctor Remake SciFi Thriller Werewolf
Re: I need some help choosing Genres for movies
What would I put Videodrome under? Imprint? The Wicker Man?

Videodrome - Body Horror, arthouse horror The Wicker Man - religious cult film, musical, horror, arthouse
Re: I need some help choosing Genres for movies
Evil Dead is not a traditional zombie film and doesn't really fit in with the rules of the genre but it is still very zombiesque.. I'd say they are possessed zombies..

I would put The Wicker Man in the thriller section probably and I would put Videodrome under psychological.

Re: I need some help choosing Genres for movies
tks for helping guys. you can see the genres we have so far here http://www.horror-movies.ca/top-horror-movies.php And yes I really setup a romance genre Dirtygirl and I are working hard to setup proper subgenres ( and yes more then one per film where it makes sense ) so you can easily find and rank films.

i certainly wouldn't call "Death Proof" a horror film at all. exploitation yes but not horror.
Re: I need some help choosing Genres for movies
Just call it a Tarantino flick. That automatically tells folks it's a mash of genres while being a slave to none.

-- See my PM -- haven't seen it yet. Can't help you with this one. -- "Religious" or "Spiritual" Horror. Nothing supernatural occurs here, reality isn't altered. His horror comes from his reaction to their religion as it opposes his strict Christian upbringing. It's not some other-dimensional world or living hell or anything like that; he simply arrives at an island under a false assumption of what goes on there, and ultimately learns the very real, and very human, truth. GREAT film, by the way. Those of you who haven't seen it, avoid the Nicolas Cage remake (or, if you've already seen that one, do your best to forget it) and check out the original.

Re: I need some help choosing Genres for movies
i didnt think 'torture porn' was suitable since everyone considers movies differently. some think SAW is torture porn and i completely disagree. so i took the easy out and did a sub genre of torture and you can guess what films it features
