Re: I need some help choosing Genres for movies

Yeah, I've never been a fan of the phrase "torture porn."  For one, it's not porn.  Porn is an entirely separate entity.  "Torture" is accurate enough.

Re: I need some help choosing Genres for movies

yeah it's a very nonsensical term.
Shall we go around calling Repulsion "psychological porn"?  LOL

Re: I need some help choosing Genres for movies

This is what I'm saying!

Re: I need some help choosing Genres for movies

Imprint?

-- haven't seen it yet.  Can't help you with this one.

I would put it under freaky weird a__  sh__.  But I don't have that category  smile

Re: I need some help choosing Genres for movies

I think "shocking" is a perfectly acceptable tag or label - which Imprint could definitely be relegated to as well as other extreme outings.
I would of course also consider it a psychological horror, as well.

Re: I need some help choosing Genres for movies

psychological sounds good   smile

Re: I need some help choosing Genres for movies

What about killer animal as a sub-genre?

Yes, I thought of that...like a nature one

Jaws, Grizzly, etc..

Re: I need some help choosing Genres for movies

Here are a few new ones for you guys to ponder...

Dagon-  Religion?

Puppetmaster-  Do we need an evil doll\Toy category?

Cabin Fever

Take a look at the categories we already have and see what they might fit into...

Re: I need some help choosing Genres for movies

Toys attack  sounds like a great sub-genre.  What about based on book/short story genre?

Re: I need some help choosing Genres for movies

Evil Dead, Demons, etc. should have a "Demon" category.   Evil Dead's Deadites don't act like zombies at all, and the Demon movies have a supernatural aspect.

Videodrome might go under psychological.

Re: I need some help choosing Genres for movies

Thanks Azz,  How about a sub for serial killers?

Oh man!  Do not put non Zombie movies under a Zombie tag around here...can feel blood boiling.  smile

you could get round that by having a zombies tag and an infection/virus tag for films like 28days/weeks and Cabin Fever. wink

Re: I need some help choosing Genres for movies

i think an infection sub-genre is probly a good idea. Serial killer might also be a good choice

Re: I need some help choosing Genres for movies

yer welcome DG smile Makes our updates a little easier when we can search for something specific smile

Re: I need some help choosing Genres for movies

You should put as many genres as you think are necessary I think, because so many movies mix ideas from different sub-genres, it really sounds like you are doing great with all the ideas you have mentioned already though.

I agree with Meh that Torture is better than torture porn, that one has negative connotations.

Re: I need some help choosing Genres for movies

How about Asian Horror  and Cheezy  for some new subs?

Re: I need some help choosing Genres for movies

asian horror perhaps but 'cheesy' is to subjective. what one person finds cheesy another will not. Same can be said for 'classic horror' one persons classic is another persons nightmare.

Re: I need some help choosing Genres for movies

Asian horror is a good one.
As for 'Classic,' you could put it down as Universal & Hammer's old stuff (30s-50s).  Or not.
