Topic: HM Movie Night #6 Pre-Announcement: '70s Haunted Houses

Our elegant and studly Lon has proposed a '70s Haunted House Night for #6.  The movies considered are 'Legend of Hell House' (1973) and 'The Sentinel' (1977).

Other film ideas are welcome.  Lon & I will evaluate any submissions, and if they are bad, we will send wild platypuses after you.  (Offer only good in Australia)

And if anyone feels like taking charge of #7's theme & picks, let me know.  Just make sure you have an idea and movies in mind first (at least 6 weeks til #7).

I really like this themed night of 2 films.

Re: HM Movie Night #6 Pre-Announcement: '70s Haunted Houses

great idea and great films, both of which I haven't seen in some time  smile

I'll throw The Changeling out there, just for added suggestions

Re: HM Movie Night #6 Pre-Announcement: '70s Haunted Houses

I'm thinking of doing a Linda Blair night for Night #7.  Exorcist and Hell Night.

Question- which version of Exorcist should we do?  Since once again I don't have it, I'm open to suggestions.  I've heard the new(ish) one is good.

Re: HM Movie Night #6 Pre-Announcement: '70s Haunted Houses

Good picks, Lon. I have Legend of Hell House, great flick, but I do not have a copy of The Sentinel. But that's fine, I can just watch it up on YouTube. Hey, it works. smile

As for The Exorcist, Az, I have the extended version, or "The Version you've never seen before!". It basically just has some deleted scenes added in to make the running time more extendable I guess.

Re: HM Movie Night #6 Pre-Announcement: '70s Haunted Houses

It may be hard to believe but as amazing as The Exorcist's theatrical cut is, I think The Version You've Never Seen is even better.  I think the added scenes give the film more depth, spell things out a bit more clearly and I love the ending with the cop and the priest, if for no other reason than it ends things on a slightly more positive note.  Oh, and it also includes the infamously excised Spider-Walk, which carries a nice jolt, as well as more subtle Pazuzu inserts.

Personally, I think once you've seen TVYNS, there's no going back to the original.  But that's just me.

Re: HM Movie Night #6 Pre-Announcement: '70s Haunted Houses

OK, we'll go with "The Version You've Never Seen."

Re: HM Movie Night #6 Pre-Announcement: '70s Haunted Houses

This one would normally land on July 2nd.  Some you may realize that this is a big holiday weekend.  So I ask, should I push it ahead a week or back a week?

Re: HM Movie Night #6 Pre-Announcement: '70s Haunted Houses

I'm good either way. smile

Sounds like some type of admission.  lol

Re: HM Movie Night #6 Pre-Announcement: '70s Haunted Houses

Not so much an admission as a compliment I've received on numerous occasions.

I'm not proud...

Re: HM Movie Night #6 Pre-Announcement: '70s Haunted Houses

lol
... and much confusion was felt by all.

Back to the topic at hand, I'm going to default back to after 4th July weekend if I don't get much response for the earlier weekend.

Re: HM Movie Night #6 Pre-Announcement: '70s Haunted Houses

Put it up again-
next weekend, July 4th weekend, or the following weekend.
Give me some feedback peoples.

And Lonnie the Lasso, I'll ask for your preference of which movie goes first.  Others are also allowed to chime in on order.

Re: HM Movie Night #6 Pre-Announcement: '70s Haunted Houses

I'm cool with next weekend, if others are as well.

As for movie order, Legend of Hell House is definitely the more "crowd friendly" of the two, so I'd recommend it go first in case some can't hang around for both flicks.

Re: HM Movie Night #6 Pre-Announcement: '70s Haunted Houses

You heard the man, now it is your time to respond.

edit- neat, there 120 guests on the site now.  Guess what guests?  Sign up and come to movie night or you will find bananas in your mailboxes Sunday morning!

So spoketh the monkey.

Re: HM Movie Night #6 Pre-Announcement: '70s Haunted Houses

such a good film, I don't think I'll be able to make that one at all, though, gonna be another busy weekend.
I still need to submit a few suggestions for a future movie night, too.

not enough hours in the danged-god day, I tell you what!

Hey, man, far as I'm concerned we can run it twice.  Both flicks are very good, and worthy of multiple viewings.

We'll talk tonight to see if everyone is good for the 25th.

Re: HM Movie Night #6 Pre-Announcement: '70s Haunted Houses

how about a horror comedy night like Shaun of the Dead, Zombieland, Re-Animator

or a Vincent price theme night like Theater of Blood? Thats a good one. I love the poodle casserole
