I think you are underestimating the appeal of Lars Von Trier. Melancholia may be his big break in the awards show circuit.

It would have been! Trust me it would have been a top contender; but the Nazi comments completely fucked him of any recognition for the film. It's the same thing with Mel and the Passion. The Academy doesn’t like controversy like that. The only way Lars will be accepted again is if the Scorsese project keeps as planned and it's a knockout!!

I'm pretty sure Meryl Streep will win for Best Actress in a Leading Role. Michelle Williams will be a close 2nd. For the other catagories I can't say just yet..ha!

it's just when I typed 'I haven't seen any of these films' it made me think of another board member who seemed quite oblivious to many a thing, most especially recalling the names of other board members.
