Topic: What's the Last Unclassifiable Movie You Watched?

NOTE: This thread is for those movies which don't really fit either the "mainstream" or "horror" genre labels.  You know the ones -- midnight movies, obscure exploitation flicks, foreign oddities, cult flicks.  You get the idea.

Have at it. smile

Re: What's the Last Unclassifiable Movie You Watched?

Eraserhead is definitely different.

Not really horror, sort of sci-fi but not totally. Artsy for sure. I don't know, but it's hard to classify this flick (for me, anyway).

Re: What's the Last Unclassifiable Movie You Watched?

Before posting this new topic I'd included a number of flicks which would be considered "unclassifiable" just as examples and -- funny enough -- Eraserhead was one of them. lol

Re: What's the Last Unclassifiable Movie You Watched?

Begotten (1990)
Just whoa.

Re: What's the Last Unclassifiable Movie You Watched?

District 9

Re: What's the Last Unclassifiable Movie You Watched?

Nighthawks-  watched it last night.  it had lots of Genre actors and a Viscious Villain played by Rutger Hauer.  I wouldn't consider it Horror, but it definitely wasn't just a Thriller either.

Re: What's the Last Unclassifiable Movie You Watched?

Heck, I'll throw Videodrome (1983) out there, too.

Re: What's the Last Unclassifiable Movie You Watched?

DG -- Nighthawks is great!  An unfairly overlooked, pot-boiler gem with one of many memorable Rutger Hauer performances.  I thought Stallone and Billy Dee had great chemistry together, as well.

Azzie -- Videodrome's a prime example of the type of movie this thread is for.  But then a lot of Cronenberg flicks fit that "unclassifiable" label: Naked Lunch, eXistenze, Dead Ringers...

Re: What's the Last Unclassifiable Movie You Watched?

Oh hell, how did I forget Naked Lunch!  Watched that way back in college while stoned off my butt.  Hoo boy.

Re: What's the Last Unclassifiable Movie You Watched?

Not sure if these qualify, but it's what came to mind.

Bad Boy Bubby, Enter The Void, Fritz The Cat, Blackula, Slaughterhouse Five, Two Headed Transplant,

Well probably the most recent would be Bellflower, a cool little indie that really doesn't fit in any single genre.

Re: What's the Last Unclassifiable Movie You Watched?

Mindflesh (2008) - I had wanted to see this since hearing about it way back when, but finally found it.  Definitely a trippy film that would be hard to classify, but one worth checking out.

Re: What's the Last Unclassifiable Movie You Watched?

Three Stooges In Orbit

Re: What's the Last Unclassifiable Movie You Watched?

Happiness (1998)

Re: What's the Last Unclassifiable Movie You Watched?

The Oregonian (2011) - Weird flick

Re: What's the Last Unclassifiable Movie You Watched?

Sworn to Justice (1995) starring Cynthia Rothrock.  Unclassifiable because it's a low budget action flick, but with a silly supernatural twist in which the Roth' bumps her head on a tree and gains ESP.  lol

Love me some Rothrock, and while the story and acting left a lot to be desired, my biggest complaint about this flick is actually the sex scenes -- the only ones Rothrock's done in any of her films.

As much as I appreciate her curves and  buffness (her calves really pop in high heels, and she's one of the only performers who I don't mind has had massive breast implants) you don't watch a Rothrock flick to see her try to act and be all sexy; you watch a Rothrock flick to see her stomp the piss out of bad guys.  And while she does do some stomping here, it's far from her best stuff.

I can appreciate her trying to stretch as an actress and be sexy, but of all the films to do it in, why this one?

Bad Rothrock.  Go to your room.

Re: What's the Last Unclassifiable Movie You Watched?

The Sexorcist by Ray Dennis Steckler.
extremely low budget 1974 mondo-like documentary style porno horror drama.

ok, forget it, I seem to have classified it  lol

Re: What's the Last Unclassifiable Movie You Watched?

2010 Spanish Foreign Film - The Last Circus.  Definitely worth a watch.  Very odd film.  Beginning scene with a man dressed as a female clown, in battle slicing people's throats with a Tough General...amazingly dark and comical scene.  Loved that part.

It's an instant on Flix.

Funny, we were talking about that one briefly last night.  DG brought it up.

Re: What's the Last Unclassifiable Movie You Watched?

I watched Anti-Christ a few weeks ago.

Still not sure exactly how I feel about that one.

It was weird, that's about all I can say.

Just finished that one, definitely has ya scratching your head throughout. Very crazy, random movie but so well made and that opening was so bad ass! Really loved the last act too! Cool movie..

^ Yeah Chainsaw, I agree.  The beginning and ending were great.  I was actually laughing out loud during the beginning.  The rest was ok.

Wow...this pretty much sums up exactly how I feel about this one.

It is very different from what the trailers would have you believe.  In some ways it reminded me of Sante Sangre, especially in the way that it was shot, very artistic like you were looking at still photographs.  Definitely a cool flick.

Re: What's the Last Unclassifiable Movie You Watched?

I re-watched Altered States a little while back.. Pretty sure that one fits this thread.

Re: What's the Last Unclassifiable Movie You Watched?

Meet The Feebles.
