Topic: Creak - 5 min horror short from the UK getting thumbs up from bloggers

Hi Horror Movies fans,

I'm a self funded hobbyist film maker in the UK and just popped in here to share my little horror short "Creak" - it's getting a pretty positive thumbs up from horror blogs around the globe.

Some succinct quotes...

"Creak is a film that manages to brilliantly package together a well-paced and nerve-wracking tale." http://www.horror-movies.ca/Forum/viewt … 4#p591384l

"Creak is a better 5 minutes than the feature length Silent House" http://www.horror-movies.ca/Forum/viewt … 4#p591384l

"Hollywood should take some notes on how to make a horror film from Mr. Bhogal-Jones." http://www.horror-movies.ca/Forum/viewt … 4#p591384l

"Channeling Carpenter, Bava and Argento, Bhogal-Jones' CREAK can be viewed as an exercise in precision film-making." http://www.horror-movies.ca/Forum/viewt … 84#p591384

I swear that no brown envelopes stuffed full of cash exchanged hands for those quotes - don't think anyone was more surprised than me!

You can see it at

And if you want to know more about the making of (including a painful post production) you can read all such shenanigans at my blog, though hilariously my making of blog probably takes longer to read than it does to watch the film!

Any feedback good or bad very much appreciated!

Feedback? Ok.
The rampant linking in your post has ensured that I'm not going to bother checking it out.
We support indie film and the creators thereof  on this board, but when we have links shoved down our throats like you just did?
Well, we start to feel like you're just here to gather another pseudo review to boost your profile.
If you want us to be whores then you gotta pay.

So here's your pseudo review (Please feel free to quote me) Couldn't be bothered to watch i. The blatant begging  put me off.

Maybe someone else on here might give it a look but I certainly won't.

Oh by the way, I've removed all the extraneous links.

Hi Cap,

So sorry, didn't mean to be seen as aggressive or anything like that, but didn't want to put a load of hopefully positive and enticing quotes with nothing to back them up with evidence.

I am a self funded film maker and Creak was made for less than a 100th of the daily bog roll budget on a Hollywood blockbuster (which I know is nothing unique nor extraordinary, so I'm not asking for exemption there.) There obviously is no promotional budget - I just want people to see my film - and the channels I have to explore are hoping to catch the eye of the online horror communities and fans.

Apologies if I've gone about it in the wrong way and upset people on the forum here. If it is causing offence or going against the forum rules, please remove the entire thread.

We like to promote anything horror here, and have several film makers and writers as members.  You came off a bit strong as a first timer.  El Capitano will not let the quality of HM lessen on his watch (my continued presence being the exception).  He didn't ban and/or delete you, so people will get a chance to check out your work.  Don't worry, if your stuff is good, or even just OK, word will get around.

Cheers guys, thanks for keeping me here. Certainly don't envy being a moderator!
