Re: summer movie challenge

I think the premise of Pop 436 is interesting but have always been put off by the fact that Fred Durst is in it. Tend to be wary of films featuring 'stars' from another profession. Although I did enjoy Debbie Harry in Videodrome. But I enjoy her full stop tongue

Re: summer movie challenge

me too but I loved the movie lol

The Ward - First Watch - 5/10

http://i83.photobucket.com/albums/j310/Midnight-Angel19/TW.jpg

I'd been wanting to see this for a while. Partly because it's John Carpenter and partly because Amber Heard is in it, and I'm slightly in love with her. That's not shallow, right?!

I quite enjoyed it, the first half seemed to drag a bit but once it picked up a bit of momentum it became quite enjoyable. I had a lot of questions, such as why 80% of mental patients are good looking and why, for a secure hospital, virtually no doors were locked or secure, but hey Amber Heard was hot so I let them slide by. I did enjoy the ending, despite seeing it coming some way off, but nothing about it blew me away. It was enjoyable for the main part but seriously lacking in scares. It wasn't particularly creepy and the jump scenes didn't get me once, so it was much more of an interesting watch than a scary one. Therefore, a good solid 5 is what I've decided to give it.

Re: summer movie challenge

May 24th-One Flew Over the Cookoo's nest 3/10 decent acting but I was bored it was too long. love Jack Nicloson though

And Soon The Darkness (1970) - First Watch - 6/10
http://i83.photobucket.com/albums/j310/Midnight-Angel19/ASTD1970.jpg

2 girls go on a cycling holiday to France. When one of them goes missing, it's up to the other one to try to find out what is going on and try to save her friend.

I liked the whole premise of this film, the acting was solid and the amount of suspects kept me guessing. It was slow, and didn't hold any jumps or scares to be honest, but it was a good British thriller and the ending was good.
6/10

WHAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!. THat film is a 10/10 for me. ARE U CRAZY

Re: summer movie challenge

^^I seem to be disappointing alot of people over this movie recently

Re: summer movie challenge

^^ Not really disappointed, I realize your younger and have notices with your rating you tend to have different tastes as others here. I have also noticed you tend to rate movies very low, which is fine, everyone does their own thing and we all like what we like. Everyone has different reasons of watching movies, some simply to be entertained and others are looking for something much deeper than that. Cuckoos Nest for me was both uplifting and disheartening, and at the same time even, it's one of the best films I have ever seen. The only disappointment is you couldn't find any enjoyment from it.

All The Boys Love Mandy Lane - First Watch - 6.5/10
http://i83.photobucket.com/albums/j310/Midnight-Angel19/220px-Boys_love_lane.jpg

I went on an Amber Heard kick. I think this is probably the best of hers I've seen.

For about the first half of this film I thought it was just another film where insufferable teens get killed. Amber Heard's character was the only bearable one, and I was glad when most of them got killed off. And then the obvious twist had me thinking it was a bit of a poor film. Then I absolutely LOVED the ending! I thought it was really well done, and made me rate the film a lot higher than I was going to, because it made more things in the middle of the film make sense.

Loved the Mandy Lane character and Amber Heard was great

Chainsaw-I am very hard to impress movie wise. I dont enjoy a movie I will not tell others to watch it. thats why i give low ratings. If I dont get attached to the characters I will not like the movie.

Apartment 143 (Emergo) [2011] - First Watch - 4/10
http://i83.photobucket.com/albums/j310/Midnight-Angel19/Apt_143.jpg

Distinctly average found footage film. A lot better than Paranormal Activity, but I hated that, and it had some glimpses of being a good film, but really it was pretty crappy. Especially the end. It felt like they couldn't decide what they wanted the storyline to be, so just threw about 5 or 6 different ones at it all at once.

I wouldn't watch it again, it only had one scare and although that was well done it just wasn't worth an hour and a half.

1408 [2007] - First Watch - 7/10
http://i83.photobucket.com/albums/j310/Midnight-Angel19/1408.jpg

Not 100% sure if this is a true 7. It could be a 6, it could be an 8. It was really pretty bizarre so I'm just not sure. Watched with my brother and we both enjoyed it. I only found out afterwards that it's adapted from a short story by Stephen King.

Anyhoo, the story centers around a writer who tried to debunk paranormal events. He finds out about room 1408 at a hotel, where no-one is allowed to stay, and obviously talks his way into staying there. Then the crazy shit starts. I'm not sure if this is paranormal/psychological or what, because the story goes off in so many directions, but it was good. Unfortunately it was really light on scares and jumps, so that was disappointing.

The acting was really good throughout, Samuel L Jackson was stellar as always, although he wasn't in it too much.

I'd definitely recommend this film, I did enjoy it but it was pretty odd and a bit confusing!
