Topic: Spanish Horror

I'm looking for some good Spanish language horror recommendations. I've seen the obvious ones, Rec 1 & 2, The Orphanage, Julia's Eyes, Cronos, The Devil's Backbone, The Silent House, and a few others.

I'm looking for the next round, the ones that aren't as well known. Anybody have any ideas?

Atrocious was worth a watch. I can't think of any others off the top of my head.

Atrocious.. it's not amazing but it's ok. Can't think of any more spanish that you haven't already named! Pans Labyrinth is good, infact I haven't been able to watch past the part with the thing with eyes in its hands! Get nightmares everytime haha. (wimp!) You seem to like Del Toro so I think this will be up your street.

Check out Jess Franco's films for some old school Spanish horror or Isle Of The Damned by Narciso Ibanez Serrador. I especially recommend the latter. In fact id say Who Can Kill A Child and Devils Backbone are my two favourite Spanish flicks.

I've seen Pan's Labyrinth, it's a great film but I see it as more of a fantasy/drama rather than horror, which is why I didn't name it above.

Will have to check out Tesis and Atrocious.

I had to look up Isle of the Damned, I've actually seen it, but I knew it by its original title, Who Can Kill a Child? I really liked it! Going into research mode now for Jess Franco's films. smile

Aint We Are What We Are Mexican. Not a fantastic film anyways i believe i gave it a 6/10 in my Morguespace. EDIT Sry I now realise Mexico is Spanish speaking

Of these, I've seen Timecrimes and The Uninvited Guest - really like both of these - and We Are What We Are, which I thought was just ok. I have Sleep Tight on Blu Ray as well, haven't watched it yet though.

Have you seen all of these? I've heard The Baby's Room is really good, haven't been able to get hold of it yet though.

Yup, these are the ones that I have watched in the last year or so that came to mind first.  There are more, but I will have to dig through the old memory bank to recall them.  The Baby's Room was my favorite entry from the 6 Films to keep you awake series.  Definitely check out Sleep Tight, Cold Sweat and Penumbra, all well worth watching.  Also I just remembered The Squad (2012) which is from Columbia and is pretty good, and The Dark Hour which was just okay.

I made this list on IMDB of the best spanish horror movies i've seen, and i've seen quite many, so here is my recomendation.

The list is a mix of spanish horror movies, but also co-productions (with spanish money)

Right away, i would strongly recommend "Secuestrados (Kidnapped)" , "The Abandoned", "To let", and "The Last Circus". "Sexykiller" is superfunny too.

On the list i would say that up to #19 movies are good. From #20 and on, movies are not amazing, but still worth watching.
