I know a couple of forum members have been watching this lately and I was wondering if anyone else was interested in it. While mostly sci-fi there are a lot of horror based episodes and quite frankly disturbing in a lot of cases.
Yup, got into that show earlier this year. I saw a few episodes back in the day, maybe four or five in total. But a few months back I DLed the entire series and watched it straight through. Lots of great eps, though my personal favorites were the ones with more humor. In fact, it got to where I preferred the one-off episodes over the increasingly convoluted and continuity-skewered mythology episodes.
Great show, though I think it ran a season or two too long.
I concur. But the last 2 seasons have some good stuff. I'm watching one of the humor episodes now (even made a Mulder porn joke). Hollywood A.D. season 8. Really funny stuff.
I think the mytharc had some flaws but was overall a good quality conspiracy tale.
Let's see- The rubber man killer who popped up every 40 or so years. The sewer slug man. The one where a creature eats Fox and barfs a copy of him up (or did I hallucinate that one?) The one with the haunted house where they tried to get Fox and Scully to kill each other.
Best one- The COPS-like one with a werewolf (or something)!
I'm sure there are others I'm forgetting right now.
used to love it but like most series it went on too long. looking back as well, the open endings often used to irritate me with their repeatition but how else were they to end? some good episodes amongst the forgettable ones though.
I watched it a lot when I was younger (12-15) and it grisly freaked me out, I was terrified of alien abduction. That was my one big fear as a kid lol. I used to watch that show "Sightings" a lot too and it gave me the willies!
I seen a while back that Netflix had the whole series and started watching them again but I only got few episodes in and just got sidetracked by other stuff. I stipple really wanna see the while series because back in the day I only caught an episode here and there.
I was huge into the x-files. I have the barbies, t-shirts, posters, all that stuff. It was a great show. Now I'm hooked on Supernatural, but I'm only on season 3. It reminds me alot of the x-files.

Kim Manners, who produced and directed a great many X-Files episodes, was also involved in Supernatural until he passed away in '09.
The episode The Host had one hell of a creepy and horrific monster in it. In the words of Dutch it was one "ugly motherfucker". I remember the episode entitled Home was pretty disturbing aswell. The Post modern Prometheus is one of my favourite eps though. It was a equally touching and humorous take on the Frankenstein monster.
Yeah, I knew about Kim Manners. so when I was watching supernatural I was like ah that makes sense. I went to an x-files convention and Kim Manners was there. So was the "shocker" himself Mitch Pileggi. Also Nicholas Lea and Dean Hagland. I got some great goofy pics in front of a green screen, but not really good pics of the actors. No cameras were allowed and they took pics for you and you took home a floppy disc with them on it. lol
I believe Joss Whedon, who as im sure u all know wrote Cabin in the woods also wrote some excellent X files episodes including one of my favourites "X-cops" (Love the reference to - drag to see Freddy Krueger)
