Topic: How does Children of The Corn get so many sequels!

I want to know why Stephen King's short story Children of The Corn in Night Shift got a film adaptation that was pretty much not really good, and got THIS MUCH of sequels:

-Children of the Corn (1984)
-Children of the Corn II: The Final Sacrifice (1993)
-Children of the Corn III: Urban Harvest (1995)
-Children of the Corn IV: The Gathering (1996)
-Children of the Corn V: Fields of Terror (1998)
-Children of the Corn 666: Isaac's Return (1999)
-Children of the Corn: Revelation (2001)
-Children of the Corn (2009) (2009)
-Children of the Corn: Genesis (2011)

In the whole series contains one television remake, which is understandable. But with THAT much of sequels is actually unbelievable.

They mostly make these types of franchises when there are good ones like
A Nightmare on Elm Street (1984) or Friday the 13th (1980).

My thought is that some people ran out of frickin' idea so they decide to run a LOOOOONG  franchise that is understandable when explain (like the danger thing isn't over yet bla bla bla).

Honestly that was my best explanation to it. How about you guys... again.

Yeah i watched the original and turned it off halfway through. Not great. So i am perplexed about the sequels as u. I guess the reasoning may be the same as why they keep on churning out crp SyFy movies.

Good Q. I've often wondered the same?? Somewhere there must be an audience who's been supporting the sequels? I'm not one of them.

Re: How does Children of The Corn get so many sequels!

I see the whole series, first 3 are the good one in the sequel

Same can be said about amityville horror series

The Amityville Horror (1979 original)
Amityville II: The Possession (1982)
Amityville 3-D (1983, released in 3-D)
Amityville 4: The Evil Escapes (1989 TV film)
The Amityville Curse (1990 direct-to-video release)
Amityville 1992: It's About Time (1992 direct-to-video release)
Amityville: A New Generation (1993 direct-to-video release)
Amityville Dollhouse: Evil Never Dies (1996 direct-to-video release)
The Amityville Horror (2005 remake)
The Amityville Haunting (2011 direct-to-video release)

yet 2 more on way!
The Amityville Horror: The Lost Tapes (????)
Amityville: The Legacy 3-D (2012)

there something else called The Amityville Asylum (2013) , i not sure if that with series

Seen very movie corn and  Amityville  series.

I don't think any would really know why, i guess there are fans for series!

Hellraiser is the same i believe. 9 sequels and a upcoming remake!

"Outlander!  We have your woman!"  (I always love when I get to type that)

Easy answer to Children and Amittyville- cheap to make and name recognition.  Digital DTV is dirt cheap, and with the name you'll get some distribution.

Hellraiser got weird.  After Hellraiser: Bloodlines, they started taking detective and mystery movies and just stuck in bits of Hellraiser.  Until Hellworld, I believe.  They call it "repurposing" films.  You think Troll 2 was actually made as a true sequel?

Well for me Children of The Corn (1984) was good. When I saw COTC 2 I was like WTF!?
