I am still not clear about something in this movie . How did Jakob get the bruises on his body that his caregiver noticed ? In one version they showed his Father beating him but that is another confusing thing because Jakob's Mother was portrayed as being a single Mother ?

^Good question I am not quite sure. I am going to need to go back and rewatch it because I had some questions as well. You might check the IMDB discussion boards to see if that helps.
