Topic: American Sweeties/Candy
As most of you know, I'm from England, and I love sweeties, but I'm bored now with all we have to offer. My brother took my to an American candy shop the other day, and we spent a fortune lol and now I've just found this website - http://americanfizz.co.uk/ and I'm going to order some more from there, but I really need some suggestions! What would all you yanks recommend? What is really good that you have over there? There is so much stuff you guys have that we just don't get here, so what should I get? I like pretty much everything, LOVE peanut butter, so please can you tell me what I should try? Sweets, chocolate, drinks, crisps, I wanna order a selection  Thankies so much!  xxx

When I was in America (a couple of times, I've been in America like 5/6 times) and I really liked their candy to be honest. But it's not like, it's that good I'd be ordering it to my home or anything. It was just real cheap and nice.

I've been good thanks, super busy and a bit stressed but it's all calming down now! How about you? Those sour patch sweets look yummy! I tried a Butterfinger the other day, they are so nice. You have tons more sweets than us

Skittles And if you like peanut butter there are taffy bites with peanut butter centers. I have no idea what they're called but they come in Bazooka Joe-like wrappers, either orange or black, and are hugely popular around Halloween.

Skittles, Mike & Ikes and Reese's Cups are all great.
Damn addictive though. Especially anything with Reese's stamped on it.

I also like Cookie Dough Bites. Whenever I'm at the dollar store I pick up like 3 boxes of them.

No offensive to our american friends but when i tried chocolate on my visit to America in 2005 it was HORRIBLE. The trouble with American 'candy' is that it is mass produced as u can get so that most of its ingredients are artificial - including chemicals, with a very low actual cocoa content- and therefore the horrible waxy taste I experienced with a Hershey bar. Yes admittedly more expensive but FAR finer and enjoyable, hell even healthier chocolate is stuff like the really tasty Green and Blacks bars u get in Tesco's in the UK. Even though I sometimes buy a single 100G Bar and it can last most of a week because I enjoy a few squares of it at a time so much and my appetite is appeased, there is no need to eat the whole bar at once. I was listening to a radio programme recently that argued that they should make chocolate more expensive so that people see it much more as a treat like it used to be. Its currently so cheap and mass produced that we eat it far too often and in too much amounts. We should enjoy fine things in moderation to keep them that way.

As for American Candy...my all time favourite is PayDay candy bars. oh how I wish we had them in Canada. Next up would be Reese's Peanut Butter Cups and red licorice stix

^^^ My kid's mom, who is from Canada, fell in love with Funyuns when we first met (they didn't have Funyuns in Canada at the time; I don't know if they do now or not). So after she visited me the first time, after she went back home I shipped her a U-Haul box stuffed with something like 20 giant-sized bags of Funyuns. I think she fed herself on those things for a month.

Thanks for the suggestions guys, I love Reese's and we can get cups and Nutrageous here which are probably my fave chocolate bars ever. Those Lemonheads look good hellrat. Not had cookie dough bites tri, we don't really have much cookie dough stuff here but they sound yum! I'm gonna order some stuff tonight I think And Lon, that is sooo sweet
