Re: Horror Images Burnt Into Your Mind

It's okay Fulc, I knew some bugger was going to do it so I shut my eyes big_smile I can't remember another scene that made me feel so sick to my stomach. I remember that one in Henry and you nailed it spot on, that was truly horrific. But it still didn't disturb me half as much as the one in Megan is Missing

Re: Horror Images Burnt Into Your Mind

That was a brutal scene..

Heheh, I'm an evil swine sometimes! big_smile
I knew exactly what scene you were referring to and yeah, it sickened me too. Here's the other one:
http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-y8kblqAXYZ4/TlF1J_CLvDI/AAAAAAAAAk0/0hFoSsAuL0c/s1600/megan-is-missing-2011-metal.png

I told you I was evil!!!

When that image popped up it turned my stomach. Megan is Missing is actually a very, very effective exploitation film. Not in a fun, goofy way ala Bloodsucking Freaks and not in a silly, gruey way ala The Human Centipede, but in a Last House on the Left kind of way that makes you sick to your core. It may be inept, it may be annoying and the first three quartres may make you want to tear your hair out but the wallop the last fifteen minutes packs is seldom seen. Megan is such a hateful, prickly film that I just have to give it a 9/10. If any film has truly upset me in the last decade or so then Megan is that film. Horrible, stupid, poorly made but utterly, utterly unforgettable and that's what counts in the long run.

I certainly won't be watching it again anytime soon - I won't need to as the finale is forever burnt into my noggin! Yuck!!

Re: Horror Images Burnt Into Your Mind

Yeah that one was pretty bad also, but not as bad as that first one. You're an evil little bugger!

I think what makes it effective is that it all looks so cheap that it looks real. I thought it was a piss poor movie to be honest. The first 3/4 of the film was irritating and boring, but the ending was definitely unforgettable. It made me sick to my stomach and I can't remember many other films that have ever done that to me. It was truly horrifying, but as a movie it was dire. I won't ever watch it again, I know that. I still cannot get the barrel image out of my head and I watched it last year!

Re: Horror Images Burnt Into Your Mind

Yep, I think we both despise and yet morbidly admire Megan in the same way. The director really rubbed our noses in the mire by having the last 5 minutes or so show a scene of a faceless killer digging a hole as the poor young girl pleads for her life as she eventually gets buried alive. Love it or loathe it there's no denying the impact of the ending. Fuck this film, I want to burn every copy of it so nobody else has to suffer like we have!!!

Re: Horror Images Burnt Into Your Mind

That image is indelibly burned in my mind, I don't want anyone else to have to go through that! The last 30 or so minutes are really brutal. Now I like dark, gritty, brutal films but I like it when there is a storyline that is developing. This felt like the director was trying to show the most shocking things he could, with little to no care for the development of the storyline. Which is why it was not a good film. But there is no denying that the last part is absolutely horrifying.

Re: Horror Images Burnt Into Your Mind

^Yup, totally agree on Megan is Missing.  As awful as the first 3/4 was, the last 15 minutes are guaranteed to illicit an emotional response, which is why we watch movies in the first place.

Some that are permanently etched, or burnt as it is, in my mind....

With the great line, "We've been waiting for you!"
Which then led to this...

Then there is this scene which really freaked me out the first time I saw it.

And Fulcento, you mentioned Henry: Portrait of a Serial Killer earlier.  There is another film with a similar scene, The Great Ecstasy of Robert Carmichael (2005), that I find to be even more disturbing given who and why they are committing the acts.

Re: Horror Images Burnt Into Your Mind

Yeah Alien...that some messed up stuff.  I don't know what those first pics are from.

The ending of Megan was horrible and disturbing in a great horror movie, and the rest was horrible and disturbing in a really bad movie way.  Totally unrealistic in so many ways and the acting was ridiculous.  To me, the ending did not make up for the rest of it and I think I had given it a 2 out of 10 or so.  HorrorQueen and I had been in complete agreement on that.  I know that's not the point of this Thread, but it sets up the point of my next entry to the Thread.

Anyone know what this is from?  A found footage movie.  Fairly unimpressive until the end (though not nearly as horrid as Megan), and then it had a horrible, long drawn out claustrophobic scene that still makes me feel like I am losing my breath when I think of it.  This was terrible and hard to watch.

Re: Horror Images Burnt Into Your Mind

I cant post a pic of it because it contains nudity but the the women impaled on the stake  from Cannibal Holocaust always got to me due to the fact it always looks so real. Fascinating how one simply effect can go such along way.

That girl in Cannibal Corpse was rad indeed.

These will NEVER EVER get out of my mind.

GS, the first two are from Burnt Offerings.  Karen Black was absolutely creepy in that sceen.  By the way, what movie is that still from?

Re: Horror Images Burnt Into Your Mind

^ Ohhh Alien...I shoulda known that.  Think I saw it recently too.

The one I posted was from Meadowoods.

Re: Horror Images Burnt Into Your Mind

I'm too lazy to go digging around for pics, so I'll just make a list -- and most of these are from when I was young and impressionable and hadn't yet witnessed REAL horror, beyond the Universal Monster flicks:

1. The Shape fading into view in the doorway behind Lori in Halloween.
2. Dr. Gruber's eyes exploding in Re-Animator.
3. As already listed a few times, Leatherface's manic chainsaw dance from TCM.
4. Cristina Raines stabbing her ghostly father in the eye in The Sentinel.
5. A kid Freddy arbitrarily stabs in the stomach during the pool party scene in A Nightmare on Elm Street 2.  Also, when Freddy emerges from Jesse's chest.
6. Regan stabbing her genitals with a crucifix in The Exorcist.
7. The first reveal of Tar Man in Return of the Living Dead.
8. The original TV spot for It's Alive, when a clawed hand grabs the bassinet.
9. The husband rolling out the sclera lens in the original Diabolique.
10. The table zombie in Day of the Dead with only its spine and brain intact.

You totally reminded me of probably one of my first and most memorable...

The pool party scene (which was really a pretty cool and dark scene) where Freddy spreads his arms and says, "You are all my children."

Also, from Friday six, where Jason is outside a cabin and a counselor is inside.  The counselor is walking and you can see Jason through the window walking step for step and just behind the counselor, who doesn't know he's there.

Re: Horror Images Burnt Into Your Mind

There are quite  a few for me. This one from Martyrs still sticks with me.

The image of Zelda in that bed, creepiest effing thing...

Another one that creeped me out.

Re: Horror Images Burnt Into Your Mind

Zelda!  Good call.

Is that last one from Black Sabbath?

Re: Horror Images Burnt Into Your Mind

Yes it is, Ghosty. As for Zelda, I'm still disturbed by that scene even after all these years.

Oh yeah, I totally forgot about that sceen.  Been awhile since I watched that one.

Re: Horror Images Burnt Into Your Mind

Most memorable scenes for me...

Zombi- Spike through the eye
The Shining- Jack slowly following Wendy up the stairs while she swings the bat.
Pet Sematary- I am also going to mention Zelda, but the scene where the truck is heading right at the toddler freaks me out every time!
Arachnaphobia- Spiders! Yuck!
The Changeling- When the ball rolls down the stairs
NOES- Bathtub scene
Halloween- Michael smashing the closet door in and Laurie screaming

that's all I can think of now

Re: Horror Images Burnt Into Your Mind

Some god ones Dirty!

MsG - I just saw Black Sabbath, and that thing was pretty dam freaky.  Too bad that was about the only thing freaky in that movie.

Ok...I thought of probably one of the most memorable...hard to believe I didn't think of this.  I'm not able to find the actual pic of the scene, but its from:

http://i49.tinypic.com/29cb0i8.jpg

People familiar with this (I think this movie freaked out Lon?) will probably know the scene I'm thinking of.

Look on one side of the bed nothing there, look on the other nothing there....then look on the other...bam!  smile

Re: Horror Images Burnt Into Your Mind

I've never seen that flick.

When I was...seven, eight?...I saw the TV spot and it scared me so bad I took a running jump at my bed every night for at least a week.  When I got older I figured I'd eventually get around to watching it, but never did.  But as time has worn on I told myself I'll never watch it.  Because I know that it won't scare me now, and I kind of like having that memory of being scared shitless by the commercial as a kid.  lol

Re: Horror Images Burnt Into Your Mind

^ Ok, I wasn't too far off then.  I just knew there was something with you and being scared of that movie at some point.

When I saw ET as a kid at the drive ins, they had a trailer for a movie that scared the hell out of me.  I just remember a ghost like thing, bathed in light, busting open a door and flying in.  Seems there was a kid in like the top of a bunk bed or something...then the scene changes.  It really freaked me out quite a bit.  I still don't know what it was...think it mighta been something from Poltergeist, and maybe my memory of the trailer is not too accurate, or maybe that was a scene (or close to it) in Poltergeist, or maybe another movie entirely.

Another one that scared the hell outta me, that I have no idea what its from...may have even been a made for tv movie.  Not sure.  A kid comes out of a room.  His friends (or could have been older people, like older sis or something?) are there, and the kid looks all shooken up and pale.  Friends ask what was wrong and he says he was jumping on the bed, he looks over and a small demon was jumping on the bed with him.  Threatened him too, or something like that.

Anyway, the thought of jumping on a bed with a demon is freaky, and that scene scared me!

Re: Horror Images Burnt Into Your Mind

Speaking of poltergeist , the stupid clown doll and the freaky tree always sticks out.

Re: Horror Images Burnt Into Your Mind

Damn! Knew I'd see that creepy Zelda bitch in here. I remember sitting up late at night home alone watching Pet Semetary, and then... she walked towards the screen.

For me it's just gotta be that pic they always show of Linda Blair from The Exorcist. I can't stand looking at her messed up face in it, think that's because I traumatized myself as a kid - walked in on a part of the movie.

Re: Horror Images Burnt Into Your Mind

I've always enjoyed the girl slashed in half in Wrong Turn 2, pretty powerful shot that was.
