I've heard people and I'm not kidding, call Evil Dead a zombie film and that right there irritates the living hell out of me. They get demonically possessed by candarian demons who were released when the ancient words were spoken from the tape recorder. None of that has remotely anything to do with zombies.
A case could be made for the concept that zombie movies have ended altogether and that the kind of things seen since Romero are a new breed of creature altogether. And then there are a handful of pictures that have taken them even further from the zombie mythos-not even requiring them to die first as in THE BLOOD EATERS aka ATOMIC ZOMBIES (they're not atomic either) etc. There are a couple generations growing up not knowing the original definition of "zombie." Some of these movies may be better or at least have more potential, but they're not zombies, god-damn it!
