I just watched this last night based on your rec and it was a stinking piece of shit, Dyer's character was introduced for no other reason than to include him in the credits, characters appearead, only to disappear moments later and the ending was gratuiitous and dumb. Some films affect, some films shock, some films are just so bad they're good. This falls into neither category, it was so shit it was, er, shit. The rape and murder climax was simply pathetic, Straw Dogs this ain't. Guff from start to finish and the ending was about as shocking as an episode of Hannah Montanna. I can only imagine the makers were going for a Last House/I Spit type vibe but sorry, it was utter, utter shite that spiralled towards the floor at every turn. I'm sure it'll be a while before I see a film quite this unremittingly shite. 1/10

Hey, I never said I would recomended it. I just mentioned that scene in relation to your post and the scene in Henry. I still think that the scene is pretty disturbing given that it was just a couple of kids committing the acts.
Re: Horror Images Burnt Into Your Mind
The one that stands out for me is the spiderwalk from The Exorcist

This shot and the accompanying scene are pretty damn disturbing and remain branded on my brain. Edited by LoudLon

Terrifying Ms.G. The scene where her hair is shaved off got to me too. The complete stripping of her identity and femininity. I suddenly burst into tears during this scene where he lies with her as she takes her last breath. So gentle and heartbreaking. Deep red and the stunning scene where he and Carlo are having a conversation about the murders with the statue in the middle.
That thing is bloody haunting. Still terrifies me. I know Pans Labyrinth is arguably not a horror but a fantasy with a few horror images but that creature freaks me out every time. In fact I turned it off at this point both times I attempted it at the age of 16 ha!

Sorry, wasn't thinking. For those curious, it was the impaled scene from Cannibal Holocaust.
Re: Horror Images Burnt Into Your Mind
I was forever scarred by the scene in Trilogy of Terror where Karen Black is in the bathroom and the Zuni Fetish Doll is running that little steak knife under the door trying to get at her, I nearly had a heart attack when I saw that at age 10, then of course my big brother would do it to me whenever he heard me get up to use the bathroom in the middle of the night, that creep. A few years later, I was in some movie museum of sorts, laughing and having a good time, when I turned my head and found myself face to face with the actual puppet used in the movie, hanging up in a glass case. Damn near peed my pants, my boogeyman was right in front of me! They had to tear me away from that thing, I was fascinated by it, and I've wanted one ever since!

Probably not so much burnt into my mind by the movie, but by its repetition. The skull explosion from Scanners.

Re: Horror Images Burnt Into Your Mind
I did a search on Tumblr for 'horror' I came across a gif of a person getting their eyeball sliced. Not from any horror movie that I know of but it was disturbing.
Re: Horror Images Burnt Into Your Mind
In the original Stepfather, the opening when Jerry's descending the stairs. I get chills every time.

Re: Horror Images Burnt Into Your Mind
When I was a kid my parents went out one evening and I was home alone. I turned on the TV and Hitchcocks Psycho was on. I was about 11 or 12. Not really knowing what it was about I watched it. It really scared the crap out of me! The scene of the rotting corpse of Mother in the rocking chair... yikes! Of course it pretty tame stuff for today, but it still sticks in my pre teen mind!

^^^ Oh man YES!!! And they seem to do lots of that kinda make up/prosthetics back then. Like in Horror Hotel the dead woman...
Quite striking for the tech they had then. Oh yeah, viva good old school Horror, absolutely.
Re: Horror Images Burnt Into Your Mind

The Grudge
Re: Horror Images Burnt Into Your Mind
^^^ Yeah, she's really freaky. But the time she freaked me out the most is when she comes out of the photo development liquid in Grudge 3. Creeped me out.
