HA!

I've seen both. While the 2009 version is like a Lifetime movie, it's still okay despite the tone being serious unlike the OG's camp feeling which I feel is better.

Re: Last horror movie you watched?

Az & me watched Torso, which was good for the first 3/4. Then it dragged on and they forgot to make an ending, it seemed.

Then we watched Woodchipper Massacre. I now need some acid to burn out my eyes.

Oh man, 'Chipper was bad.  Not even the good badness type.  I wanted to frozen dick slap the mom.  I was so insulted I was willing to have my dong frozen so I could pierce her skull with it.  LOUD NOISES!   Ugh.

Loud noises sounds better to me than I now need some acid to burn out my eyes. OUCH!!!

Re: Last horror movie you watched?

ALL THEY DID WAS SHOUT THEIR LINES AT THE TOPS OF THEIR VOICES. I believe one of them actually went permanently deaf from working on this movie.

Also, the main woman was played by the directors wife/Mum. They were definitely the same person. We even coined a new word for this particular vein of inbred - Wifum.

Death Ship (1980) - After their cruise ship is rammed and sunk by a mysterious ship, the last survivors think they are saved when they come upon another ship, but unbeknownst to them, the ship is actually an abandoned former Nazi torture ship that runs on something other than your standard fuel.  Actually, kind of a cool plot line, unfortunately it was not very suspenseful and really pretty tame.  I guess it didn't help that the ship itself broke down on them while filming so that they couldn't actually show it moving, not to mention not showing the cruise ship sinking.  Given today's technology, this is one that could be remade and remade better than the original.  2/5.

Doomsday Book (2012) - A Korean anthology of three stories, In A Brave New World, a mysterious virus brings the city to ruins and zombies flood the streets of Seoul. The Chapter 2, The Heavenly Creature, a robot reaches enlightenment on its own while working at a temple. Its creators regard this phenomenon as a threat to mankind and decide to terminate the robot. The Last Chapter- Happy Birthday, a little girl logs into a strange website and puts in an order for a new pool ball for her billiards-obsessed father. Soon an unidentified meteor heads toward Earth and all human beings flee to underground bomb shelters.  Of the 3 stories, only the first really plays on horror themes, and was probably the most enjoyable.  The other two deal more with science fiction themes.  Interspersed throughout there is some good humor, but having read about this one some time ago, I found it to be a bit of a let down.  2.5/5.

Re: Last horror movie you watched?

Silent Night - pretty damn good remake, much better than I expected. Decent acting, a few really cool kills (very minimal CGI) and some old school lighting towards the end. 8/10

SICK GIRL [2006]
Sick indeed. But I watched it just for Misty Mundae which I love on her B Porn movies. But it disturbed me. Not good or bad, just frankly disturbing. 7/10

Re: Last horror movie you watched?

Turistas
Gets alot of hate due to it following Hostel's footprints. The story was probably inspired by urban legends where people wake up in tubs full of ice with an organ missing. 8/10

Carver (2008)
Pretty okay straight to video. A group of friends go camping in the woods only to be hunted by rednecks. There was a cool scene where the twenty somethings found a film reel and watched it, but realize it's a snuff film. PS That damn "Turkey in the Straw" song plays THROUGHOUT... 6/10

Say what, Turistas got hate for following in the footsteps for already sht film that is a variation on the Saw Films. Doesn't make any sense to me.

Re: Last horror movie you watched?

@Vasquez
Ouch. Well any movie that follows the paths of certain successful films (Scream, Saw, Hostel, Paranormal Activity) will immediately be seen as inferior (IKWYDLS, Captivity, Devil Inside). I think Hostel receives too much hate. I understand it was being hyped as "The most brutal movie experience ever" and people felt ripped off as it wasn't violently graphic until the second act. I like it though and your post tells me you didn't but that's fine.

Re: Last horror movie you watched?

Last night HQ and I watched Windigo (Slender man film) off of YouTube.  We had watched a few nifty faux-docus on Slender, so I suggested a full length film.

I'm surprised she kill me through the internet.

It was 75 minutes of idiots talking to other idiots, people walking through a forest, some dumb argument about building a shed, and 5 minutes of watching guys drink beer while watching static on a TV.  Yes, they were watching static and it was filmed!  The highpoint of the film was when someone was waving a Canadian flag behind the shed guy for no reason, and our subsequent conversation about sheds.

Then the last 15 minutes turned into nonsense with the Slenderman showing up with a bunch of clones (???).  It was such utter boredom that HQ asked me to run her over with my car.

It's in the top 3 of non-good bad movies I've seen.  When flag waving and shed construction are the high points of a movie discussion, you got problems.

1/10.

I have Synapse's Deadbeat at Dawn DVD, on which My Sweet Satan is included as a bonus feature.  I'm a fan of Jim Van Bebber and wish he had a larger filmography.  Though I have to admit I've yet to see his Manson family flick. hmm
