I just finished of Charles Burns - The Black Hole. A very dark graphic novel about a horrific venerial disease that permanently changes the human body. At it`s core though it`s about the pressures of being a teen and growing up. Each character goes through a metamorphosis both literally and figuratively. It has some really dark imagery often culminating in nightmares for the main characters. The ending was sort of strange too, it felt like there could have been much more, but at the same time it felt like that was all we were meant to see of these characters lives.
Picked up a few other books recently too....
Algernon Blackwood - Three Supernatural Classics: The Wendigo, The Listener and The Willows
John Polidori (and others) - The Vampyre and other Tales of the Macabre
Mark Z. Danielewski - The Fifty Year Sword
