You know I'm bad

Stay clear of me

Uh!

Lemmy is the Godfather of metal, Halford is the Metal God, Dio is God.

The unholy trinity Dio, Halford and the Lemmy Kilmister.

Some progressive metal for us.

Re: \M/ETAL Thread

I never really could get into them. My friend is a big fan, but I'm just not as much into the proggier side of metal. I do dig some of their stuff though. As far as prog goes I like my Fates Warning and Queensryche. Or old prog rock bands like Yes and Uriah Heep.

Re: \M/ETAL Thread

My favorite metal band is Black Sabbath (The original lineup with Ozzy).

I listen to a lot of Anvil, White Zombie, Rob Zombie, Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, Dio, Pantera, Early Scorpions...

Also a little Megadeath, Metallica, GWAR, and Slipknot here and there. smile

I'd say TOOL is my favorite Metal band, but I just don't consider them metal like some people do. I dunno. I just think they rock.

Re: \M/ETAL Thread

Scavenger, I dislike Prog of any kind heavily so no to Porcupine and like Theli, friends like them but I never could be able to listen to them.

BUT I love my Psychedelic which comes very close to Prog if you ask me and these dudes are big friends of mine. When they got their second album Rrröööaaarrr out, I was living in the same apart building as them and the basement was our practice space, my band, Noisy Dislocation, Capitalist Alienation, Punk>Hardcore girl fronted band from the same city as them and the Voivod dudes. Kick ass dudes. Blacky the bassman was my best friend then, 1986. We called him Noireau which is how we say Blacky in french  and it was annoying him. At first, he finally got used to it. lol

Piggy the guitar player discovered he had cancer so before dying a few years back, he recorded a bunch of tracks on his computer from which this new album is made of. What a great hommage to that oh so sweet and cool and funny and all guy the band did.

RIP Fatty, I miss you... sad

Always the best ones that go aways sadly.

VOIVOD-MECHANICAL MIND

Still talk to them via Facebook and Away the drums plays with a bunch of other Quebec Metal bands like Groovy Aardvark, Anonymus and others so he's the one I see the most.

Yup I grew up into Quebec's Metal as you can see.

So there a little history about this great band they are and what I lived with them. big_smile

Re: \M/ETAL Thread

I'm not normally into bands fronted by women, but their are a few decent ones. Quebec's own Cauchemar are pretty amazing and Australia's Rituals of the Oak are damn good too.

Re: \M/ETAL Thread

His name is Lemmy, he's in Motorhead, and they play rock and roll. He doesn't, and never has considered Motorhead a metal band, and neither do I. smile

Metal is all I listen to, aside from one band (Paramore... I know, I know... shut up)

As a kid in the 70's, it was all about hard rock like, KISS, Alice Cooper, Ted Nugent, Rush, and metal pioneers Black Sabbath.

Come the early 80's, and that's when NWOBHM came about and I started getting mad into Judas Priest, Iron Maiden, Accept and Scorpions.

Then then early mid 80's (83-84) it became all about Metallica, Megadeth, Slayer, Exodus, Anthrax. I flirted with a brief prog-snob period (Yes, Marillion, ELP), but still loved the heavy stuff.

I started a band in '85 and focused on metal covers initially, and moved to originals.

Late mid to late 80s is when the "shred" scene really blew up, and I became an Yngwie nut. Everything was about "how fast can I shred?!" That didn't last long, cause honestly, shredding, while awesome, gets boring after a while, and also, I just wasn't that good. I had to work too hard to maintain, so I just became a riffer (ala Hetfield).

Then I found Annihilator. Jeff Waters is a legend, period. Incredible player and super cool dude. He opened my eyes to more complex rhythms and tasty/fast leads.

The 90's brought us the mighty, infamous, and irreplaceable Pantera. Dime was one of a kind, and an idol to me. Needless to say, many, many tears were shed in 2004. I met him twice, with a 3 year gap inbetween and I'll be damned if he didn't legitimately remember me. Honored.

A LOT of people I know just poopoo new (not nu) Metal, but man, if it's good and it's metal, I'll love it.

Lately it's all about tech stuff like Between The Buried and Me, Protest The Hero (coolest dudes around), Animals As Leaders, Meshuggah, Veil of Maya, Periphery, The Faceless. I don't care if it's got a "title" or not. Call it Djent, or not. Hate that term, but it is what it is, and if it's awesome, then it's awesome.

I also love a lot of "metalcore" (again with the titles). Killswitch Engage and As I Lay Dying are two of my favorite bands at the moment.

What can I say. I grew up on hard rock, moved to metal and never looked back.

^^yep.  pretty much what he said  ^^^

I am loving metal core lately too.  but my heart still belongs to 70s and 80s metal.  I like Grunge too.  Yeah, I know Grunge killed trash, but a girl can like both right?  smile

I picked up Lacuna Coil and In this moment cds today.  Yay!
