A very good and relatively unheard of one is 'After Midnight' - three short films with an excellent wraparound narrative.

The one with the telephone operator?   It had a couple of good stories.

Re: Horror Anthologies

Yeah that cartoon was fantastic.

Recently ordered a few movies, and added some anthologies to the list. I got Torture Garden, Waxwork, Theatre Bizarre and Trick R' Treat coming in the mail. I love Trick r' Treat, but haven't seen the others.

Re: Horror Anthologies

Dr. Terror's House of Horrors (1965) (IMDB link)

Lee & Cushing, some nice stories.  Good stuff.

Re: Horror Anthologies

Been trying to track that one down for a while, was it not released on DVD?

Re: Horror Anthologies

^^
It was as a UK DVD version on Amazon.

I also found this, but I have no idea as to how reliable that site is.

Re: Horror Anthologies

Watched Theatre Bizarre the other night for 3 segments in I think but I was so tired it didn't hold my interest for too long. Bit disappointed with it actually but will give it a second watch when I've had a bit more sleep! Trick R Treat was such a disappointment for me! I didn't like anything other than the guy killing the chubby ginger kid part and the creepy sack boy.

Re: Horror Anthologies

Saw Trilogy of Terror, I didn't like

I hoping the sequel is good!

I have this on DVD myself, what the hell is up with that insane price? I paid like €13 for my copy.

Maybe I'm missing something.

I only did a very quick search.  Sorry!  Bad monkey.  sad

Re: Horror Anthologies

I love horror movie anthologies, but you dont see alot of them anymore except for Trick R Treat which was the last one recently.

I still love the ghetto Tales From the Hood because of the wacky stuff that went on.

Trilogy Of Terror 1 and 2 they were ok but a bit dumb and silly for me

Re: Horror Anthologies

I Saw Terror Tract (2000)  I don't know if anyone as see it's before , I thought it was decent

I loved last scenes in movie was very funny, best scene in the movie as well.

Stories were not!

Re: Horror Anthologies

^Love that one, I'll have to dig it out this weekend.

Re: Horror Anthologies

Japan do have a lot of horror anthologies as well.

Some decent ones

Prayer Beads aka omoinotama (2004) (some bizarre tales , some entertaining ones - loved the cat's paw one which was another version of the monkey's paw)

Tales of the unusual (2000) - 4 tales but only 1 is horror but that one tale was excellent. Creepy and atmospheric.

Curse , Death & Spirit was kind of cheap low budget type of horror but i was entertained by it.
