Maniac (2012)

Finally seen this movie, I been looking forward too remake if more then Evil Dead remake this year, It only been about 6 or 7 week since I saw Manica (1980) I thought it was very decent gory movie.

This stray really true the Original movie, this time tried to make a lot dark with the whole POV angle was not bad at all, it could of be better, It gave intense scenes for the first half of the movie as the movies , I did get a bit bored of POV.

The acting was better then I thought it be, I thought Elijah Wood Great Job playing Psychos, he was very believe-able ans creepy in this movie, yet I do think it was to young to play this role, he still did great Job but still not as good as Late Joe Spinell who a lot more psycho mad.

I was little dissponited with the gore-wise in this movie, not much until near the ending scenes of the movie, which I thought decent but again not as gory as Original or as fun. (That scene also confused me.

I liked how they gave bit of back story in flash back, in way it's make why he doing what he is doing.

I going to give this movie 7 out of 10

The Experiment: Who's Watching You? (2012)

The movie is about Mary who just low or Jon at strip club after arguing with her husband who just dump her, which makes her horny.

So reach low bottom and get place for self, not know she be watching by some ones, who gives her drugs .

This a really bad movie start with some positive stuff there 2 things that I actually liked in this movie one was when title came on screen and screaming in background of those scenes.

Also so of nudity were nice in the was okay in the movie, the rest of the movie was very boring, I didn't like how the movie flowed at all.

Scenes to cut and movie to next scenes and some scenes just drag on for far to long which add to the boredom of the movie and we get the most pointless rape scenes ever and kills the Guys who been watching her and then we she old pills in front her, then these flash black of just happened 30 seconds ago and then we see knock out couch, This was 61 minutes mark of the movie and that when credits start to roll

but then she get to guy talking about why he made this movie in between the credits, I could not care what the hell he was on about!

The acting from the lead is really bad as was rest of the cant

I am watching and reviewing this movie at the same time

2 out of 10

The Helpers (2012)

Well the cover of this movie made me think it was one of those hand held camerae movies The Last broadcast/ PA movies.

So I was little surprised when I watch it that it wasn't but how the rest of movie is basically same plot at vacancy that meet the cast of Hotel.

I was bored with this movie, I could not get into these movies at all, the death in this movie were so carbon copies of other deaths in other horror movies.

The acting from the whole cast, I don't maybe one of worst acted movies, I have seen, it even worse soaps actors.

I just clad this movie wasn't long then it was and I could get care less About one in this movie.

2 out of 10 The only reason I watched this cause I was bored, Don't make the same mistake!

Re: Last horror movie you watched?

Maniac 2012 - finally got a chance to see it and I'm not disappointed. Almost the entire film is shot from the killers POV which really gives the movie a disturbing vibe and sets apart from most slashers. The kill scenes are fantastic to say the least, not over the top gory but realistic and brutal; and there is one scene at the end of the movie that features some of the best gore effects I've ever seen in a film.(and I've seen a lot) Elijah Wood gives a phenomenal and unsettling performance as does the rest of the cast. The Musical score was haunting and flowed with the film perfectly and the whole film is shot almost like an art film. As much as I loved the film, this is definitely going to be one of those " love it or hate it" type horror films. Fans expecting any type of complicated plot will be highly disappointed; because even though it's a VERY well made slasher, at the end of the day, it's still just a slasher. Which is exactly what I wanted. 9/10

Re: Last horror movie you watched?

^^^ Skimmed through it last night to ensure I'd dl'ed a quality copy and every time I stopped to get a look, I landed on a POV shot -- and I stop a lot when I skim a new video file.  Can't say the idea of a film shot primarily in POV appeals very much to me, but I'll save my final judgment until I've watched the whole thing.

I was a little nervous about it being shot POV, but it really helps set the film apart and I ended up loving the way it was shot. Like I said, A LOT of horror fans are going to hate this movie. But hardcore slasher fans like myself are going to love it, because it's a awesome slasher.

The thing about Silent Hill: Revelation that distracted me the most was the awful, awful acting. Apart from that it was passable, yet it lacked the truly creepy "Silent Hill" feel to it. I liked the first one more.

Watched Candyman last night (again), well, most of it until I fell asleep. It's a fantastic movie but it makes me feel too relaxed. Really dig the aerial shots and the fantastic score. The movie just has some really nice feel to it. It's strange how the ghetto is a good setting for it. Of course, I'll throw in an obligatory, "I hear you lookin' for Candyman, bitch."

I wouldn't say its strange at all if you think about it. Candyman was a african american who was burnt as a slave in the 19th Century so it is perfect that the setting for the film in the 20 century is in the Cabrini-Green housing project - to an extent a representation of the poverty that affected much of the african american population, partly as a result of their history.

I meant strange in that it fitted a horror movie like this so well. Vague words on my part. Of course it's perfect for the context of the movie.

Saw this during its opening weekend and man, what an experience.  The way they recorded Tony Todd's voice had it coming at you from every direction (thanks, surround sound!) made it feel like he was everywhere in the theater all at once.  It's a given now that theaters play everything in surround sound but it was new at the time, and his voice was the only sound in the movie played back in that format.  Really made the viewing experience unnerving, but in a fun way.

Sounds awesome, I would have loved to have seen that when it came out.

Terror Toons 2.  Blah, nowhere near as fun as the first one.  Less gore, lesser FX, no purple gorilla, not even any boobies.

In the middle of Zombie Women of Satan.  Umm, what the hell?  Just... holy Cthulhu poop!  There is so much wrong in this movie.  Sort of funny to start off, but then just gets annoying.

MONSTERS [2010] rewatch

What an amazing little Indie piece this is. The photography is just gorgeous, the story's very nice [some Aliens in Mexico, a photographer gets hired to bring a girl to the USA] but the performances are freaking great. Whitney Able is just wonderful not only to look at but to see act. Very good flick.

Re: Last horror movie you watched?

^Especially impressive considering that Gareth Edwards was pretty much a one man crew for the movie, writing, directing, cinematography, production design and visual effects.  I am really looking forward to the sequel.

Mama (2013) - The story was so so and some of the CGI was overdone, but I liked how they worked the original short into the film and overall, I enjoyed it.  3.5/5.

Nude Nuns with big Guns (2010) - Great title, the movie, not so great.  There were plenty of nuns who do spend plenty of time in the buff, but unfortunately most of them looked like real nuns.  Not something one really needs to see.  Had a few fun moments, but it was too long and drawn out with periods of little to no action.  2/5.

Maniac (2012) - The whole movie is shot POV with Elijah Wood's character only visible when he sees his reflection in something.  There is one cool scene when he catches his reflection and it looks just like the poster from the original movie.  I thought back and the only scene that I can recall that was not POV was the ending.  At first the POV was kind of cool, but afer awhile it became rather annoying.  And there was the fact that Elijah's voice seemed to be coming from far off, as if coming from another person off camera.  Elijah does play his role well and I liked the added back story of his mother and his childhood, but the gore is really not the highlight of the movie like it was in the original.  It is brutal, but not as gorey as the original.  I just found it to be okay.  3/5.

I Didn't Come Here to Die (2010) - The story of six young volunteers working on a humanitarian project in the woods. Horrific accidents, rash decisions and the unpredictability of human nature leads them all to the same disturbing conclusion. Volunteer work can be a killer.  A really low budget straight to DVD flick that was only midly entertaining.  2/5.

My Amityville Horror (2012) - Daniel Lutz recounts his version of the infamous Amityville haunting that terrified his family in 1975.  An interesting documentary that really brought back memories of the late 70's and early 80's, reading the book and seeing the movie and the subsequent debate over the validity of the Lutz's story.  Very interesting to see and hear the stories of some of the people who participated in the original investigation.  3/5.

Naked Lunch (1991) - Not a horror movie, but damn if it wasn't out there.  Leave it to Cronenberg to put someting like this on celluloid.  3/5.

Maniac (2012) 8/10

This is a cool film, well made, well acted and with some neat gore and brutal kills. I enjoyed it for the most part. I think that the original was actually gorier, but both do a great job at being dark and unsettling. The music in this is pretty cool too and I really felt like this captured the essence of the 80s slasher films, it just gave off a retro vibe and I dug it.
