BEGOTTEN [1990]

This is no doubt possible the sickest thing I've seen in my life. Beautifully sick. The images are amazing and I love the silent film treatment. Gives even more power to the images blasting at you. Definitely very troubling.

A MUST SEE!!!

I really liked this one (in a strange way), I thought it was well done. Definitely powerful, and I've never forgot it since.

The Devil Rides Out (1968) (IMDB link)
Watched with HQ and Golem.  Stuff happens occasionally. The best part was the graphics on the opening credits.  Everything was a confused mess, or just dull.  At one point we descended into talking about the furniture upholstery.
I didn't see enough of the film to give it a proper rating, but I can't see it being any higher then-
4/10

I fell asleep watching this and never got back to it.  At some point I am going to need to finish watching it.

It is a bit messy, but it does feature Christopher Lee playing the role of the hero for a change, and Punk you would probably enjoy all of the cool old cars that are also featured in the film.

The Butcher (2007) - Four people awaken in a dirty barn stall, bound, with video cameras strapped to their heads.  To their horror, they discover that they are to be the stars in director Kim's latest masterpiece, a snuff film shot from the perspective of the victims as well as the killers.
Yet another torture-porn offering, this time from Korea.  The idea sounded intriguing, but unfortunately, you never feel connected to the victims or get the feeling that you are a part of the action.  Too much is lost in the flailing about of the victims, which constitutes most of the film.  If you dislike shaky cam movies, definitely avoid this one.  And as far as TP movies go, it is pretty light on the grue.  There are really only a couple of cringe worthy scenes, but nothing like Grotesque or Hostel.  To me, it all seemed so pointless.  2/5.

Mega Shark vs Crocosaurus 5/10

Assault of the Sasquatch is waiting for me on Netflix.

Re: Last horror movie you watched?

Frankenstein And The Monster From Hell (1973). disapointing but Peter Cushing was quite predictably good.

Re: Last horror movie you watched?

Warm Bodies.  Not bad, actually.  Some similarities to Twilight but only in that it's also a twist on Romeo and Juliet.  This flick has more (morbidly dry) humor and the actors are more engaging than those stale planks of wood with faces in the Twilight series.  I'd go 6.5/10.

Well.  I'm about ten minutes into Texas Chainsaw 2013 and I already strenuously dislike it.  Don't think I'm gonna bother with the rest.

Re: Last horror movie you watched?

^I felt the same way about the 1st half of the movie Lon, and I too almost switched it off, but I actually ended up enjoying the 2nd half of the movie.  I liked how they flipped the story.

Re: Last horror movie you watched?

Hm.  Well, if you say it's decent, I'll stick with it.  I just need to restore it from my recycle bin first. lol

Re: Last horror movie you watched?

^It was okay, nothing overly special, but watch the 2nd half and see what you think.

This one may be hard to classify but it's definitely FAR FROM HORROR. Would fit better in the Mainstream thread.

THE NUDE VAMPIRE [1970]

Second offering from french director Jean Rollin with still more naked Vamps. Really not as good as Rape Of The Vampire but still enjoyable. Especially the cinematography. The story is even more fucked up and hard to follow than the previous one was but if you concentrate it flows good enough. Cool but far from Rape.

8/10

Phantasm  and The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2

Re: Last horror movie you watched?

Home Sick - my favorite indie horror flick besides The Redsin Tower. The special fx never fail to amaze me.

Re: Last horror movie you watched?

Crowsnest (2012) - What a shame. I really wanted to like this one as I love found footage, but damn! So freakin' predictable. Best part was the ending, not because it finished btw. smile 4/10

Re: Last horror movie you watched?

^I really wanted to like it as well DB.  I mean the basic idea was pretty cool, but unfortunately it hits the same pitfalls that plague so many other FF films.  Annoying characters, one of which always has to be filming, and an extended build up that is not worth the pay off.  Could have been good, but they failed in the execution.

Dark Circles (2013) - When their son Tanner is born, Alex and Penny decide to trade in their urban lifestyle for the peace and quite of a house in the country.  But their dream home turns out to be less than idyllic as the constant noise from a nearby construction site and the sleep deprivation caused by caring for an infant has them both seeing things.  Are the visions real, or is there a force at work in the house determined to tear their lives apart?
A bit of a slow burn, but this offering from After Dark originals 2 has shades of Inside and The Baby's Room and actually turns out to be a pretty creepy little flick, especially for anyone who is a parent.  Nicely done.  3.5/5.

Bloody damn good ones they are. Not all of them are really very good but some like Don't Move truely are ass kicking. Gotta love Indie film companies like that.

All and all, a 666/10
