I tracked the DVD down a few years ago. You can find it on Amazon, or just watch it on TehToob

Yup. The City Of The Dead it's called in the UK.

Re: When did you first realize you loved horror?

^Love that movie. I saw it early on when I was getting into horror. The first Christopher Lee horror flick I had seen. One of my favourites with him, along with The Devil Rides Out and The Wickerman. It came in a 12 movie pack of public doman horror movies, many of which are still my favourites; Nosferatu, The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari, Horror Hotel, The Last Man on Earth etc.

Re: When did you first realize you loved horror?

^^^
That's the same one I have aside that mine as 10 of them.
The most precious think in all my DVD collection is this box.
Also comes with an audio CD full of creepy sounds and on the box there's a button you press and it plays a freaking long scream. Pretty nice. big_smile

Horror Hotel is my all times favorite Horror flick with Evil Dead.
The atmosphere is extremely creepy. And that blonde girl is hot. Hehehe

Re: When did you first realize you loved horror?

So does mine... I wonder if it's the same...

Yup mine is 10 movies, some others included The Terror, Dementia 13, House on Haunted Hill, Night of the Living Dead, and Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde.

I have another more expansive 50 movie set with all or most of the afore mentioned included as well as many other awesome old public domain horror flicks (some crap too).

Re: When did you first realize you loved horror?

That's the same one. Fantastic one I must say.
Got it for 15$ with one from 80s movies which contains more bad stuff than this one. Enjoyable but bad.

And woah, that 50 movies one looks great.

My first Horror Movie was Frankenstein.  I clearly remember the scene with the little girl.  I think the next one was Carrie.   I wasn't very old.  maybe 7 or 8?  I was pretty much hooked from that point on.

Re: When did you first realize you loved horror?

What a gresat starting point! Frankenstein is my favourite from Universal's monster movies, it's such a sympathetic and tragic portrayal of the monster.

Re: When did you first realize you loved horror?

My first experience with horror was Vincent Price in House of Wax. Ya i'm old, but i remember sneaking downstairs to watch it. After that i fell in love with being scared.

Re: When did you first realize you loved horror?

Also an excellent movie to start with!

Re: When did you first realize you loved horror?

Theli It was an amazing film along with Vincents other works

Re: When did you first realize you loved horror?

I think my love of horror started with reading Goosebumps books in the 90's (I'm a mere 21 years old now) and watching horror TV like Are You Afraid of the Dark? I also liked bands that had horror themes to their music like Nekromantix (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Yu3TcSPK08E). I remember Blair Witch Project being the first film that scared the crap out of me.

It's weird, because I'm so young, I didn't grow up on all the classic horrors. I started with 'mainstream' films that were popular when I was a teen like Texas Chainsaw Massacre remake, Saw, Devil's Rejects, Hills Have Eyes remake etc. I began to fall deeply in love with the genre and realised that I didn't just like the genre superficially like my friends did. So I was inspired to watch all the classics/horror greats pre-90's. But it felt like such a massive catch up to become the horror fan I am today!

Re: When did you first realize you loved horror?

As far as I can recall it would be the Dracula movies back during the Hammer days, starring the venerated horror film icon Christopher Lee©.
