Re: Best sci-fi movies

The best of them all is in my opinion the original 1956 Invasion of The Body Snatchers.

Re: Best sci-fi movies

Re: Best sci-fi movies

My favorite is...................how does one choose ? Top 3 in no particular order.

1. Dark City : I thought the story and look  to this movie was great. It was dark, greaty,  and music was great.
2. Terminator II Judgment Day : Talk about none stop action from start to finish. This movie holds a special place in my heart because it's one of the first movies I can remember from my childhood.
3. Close Encounter of the thirs Kind : Even if this movie came out before I was born I always feel like a child whenever I see this movie. Talk about opening up someone's imagination.

Always loved the sounds they make to engage contact in Close Encounter. If I ever have a car THAT'll be the horn I'll have. lol

And man, the mothership is absolutely beautiful.

Re: Best sci-fi movies

Good call on Metropolis, an outstanding flick! I have the restored extended Kino version, but it's 3 hours long and haven't gotten around to watching it yet. Also I remember the Metropolis anime being pretty good too.

Re: Best sci-fi movies

I'll toss in kaijufilms- Godzilla, Gamera, King Ghidora, Mothra, etc.  And you can mix & match, a la Destroy All Monsters.

Re: Best sci-fi movies

^^^
Yeah the anime is cool too but never as much as Fritz's one. So damn beautiful.

Re: Best sci-fi movies

Lol I bought the Dunes movie or I thought I did. I really bought the tv series. Didn't know they had one.

Re: Best sci-fi movies

I think the mini-series was supposed to be pretty good, never saw it myself though.

The Fifth Element needs to be added as well. Just an enjoyable, fun, sci fi flick.

What are some good ones from the last 5-10 years or so? I already saw Minorty Report and I-Robot named, both were pretty good movies (with some Scientologists in the lead roles tongue).

Re: Best sci-fi movies

I heard minority report was the sequel book to the total recal book. Any enjoy the remake ? I actually thought it was pretty good, I loved Pacific Rim. By the way I think I'm the only one who dislikes the 5th Element. Not a big fan of Bruse Willis. The only movie I liked of his was the first and third die hard movie.

Re: Best sci-fi movies

Battlefield Earth was the sequal ? I thought that movie had to do with the scientology story. Word is Jonh Travolta wanted to make movie into a trilogy.

Re: Best sci-fi movies

Ha! We made a drinking game out of it, take a shot whenever someone says "leverage". Just a stupid movie.

Re: Best sci-fi movies

Oh good call on 5th Element.

Battleship
Battle Los Angeles
Oblivion
After Earth
District 9
Monsters are pretty recent.

But there's definitely 2 of them that will kick ass once they come out.

Ender's Game
Edge Of Tomorrow

Not to mention Elysium...

Re: Best sci-fi movies

District 9 was fantastic!

Re: Best sci-fi movies

H3LL yeah, that's the main reason why I can't wait for Elysium, same dude. Oh and Jodie sweet Foster too.

Re: Best sci-fi movies

Pacific Rim

Just watched it today, and wowww... loved it!
