The most irritating one for me...
The "friend" coming up from behind with there hand out.
The victim is standing there with their back to the camera. Cue the music. Someone is approaching...very slowly. Why, there's their hand! Oh, it must be the killer! Oh stop! Please turn around!
I am absolutely terrified watching this! I have never been more scared.
The killer keeps approaching.
Why oh why will the victim not just turn around, and see its the killer so they can escape?!?!??!
The killer comes up, and grabs the person! The music goes into a high pitch frenzy that Satan himself must have created.
I shriek in terror!
Then, the victim turns around. Oh...gosh darnit. Wait a minute. It was just their friend. Ahhh shucks.
What a masterpiece of cinematic brilliance! How oh how did they get me like this?
Or...it is the most stupidly cliched movie shot in the history of horror movies that has never scared anyone save 12 year old girls and really wimpy boys. Why it continues to get used is beyond me.
Not only is it predictable and not scary. Who even approaches people like that? I mean, I cannot count the number of times I have slowly approached a friend or acquaintance from behind, walking slowly to make no noise, hands outstretched, then to reach them and grab them.
Well, that is unless I am trying to scare them of course. When this scene happens in a movie, and the person is actually trying to scare them, I can at least give them a pass cuz it makes some sense. However, when that's not the case, its irritates me so much I sometimes turn off the movie. Though, some of my favorite movies do have this scene in it.
Ok, that was my rant.
