Re: Five good/ very good films that nobody ever talks about

Haven't seen The Medusa Touch.
Don't remember much about Resurrection.
Wasn't thrilled with Hollow Man.
We watched Innocent Blood during HFest 2012.
I've been wanting to do Prince of Darkness for a while now.

Re: Five good/ very good films that nobody ever talks about

"innocent blood" I saw and have no memory of. "hollow man" was terrible. "Prince of Darkness" is a very good movie.

these are in no particular order
screamers
pontypool
stir of echoes
devils backbone
mama

Re: Five good/ very good films that nobody ever talks about

^ I keep meaning to get Devil's Backbone, I might get it on Amazon next week.

I don't know whether people actually discuss these movies, but they are good in my view anyway:

Slaughter High (80's slasher goodness)
The House by the Cemetery
Maniac Cop
Clownhouse
Dead & Buried

Re: Five good/ very good films that nobody ever talks about

Haven't seen The Medusa Touch, but I love Prince of Darkness and Hollow Man. I thought Hollow Man 2 was pretty decent also.

Devil's Backbone is WELL worth picking up. Not as well known as Pans Labyrinth but its Del Toro's masterpiece in my opinion.

Loved Maniac Cop! That flashback scene of the cop was good/sad stuff. Dead & Buried has become one of my favorites and I barely seen it this year. Just overall a great horror flick. House By The Cemetery I had good hopes for but was underwhelmed when it was over. It had a great soundtrack though.

"Hollow Man" terrible!? i beg to differ, thought it was great! obviously not original, it's just a update of "The Invisible Man" but i thought it was very well done and great effects, but each to their own. four of your five choices are decent enough, except i was very disapointed with "Stir Of Echoes" should have been much better than it was, very average.

Re: Five good/ very good films that nobody ever talks about

I don't remember being blown away by Hollow Man, however I was pretty young when I saw it for the first time. I might enjoy it more now. Prince of Darkness I have been waiting to see for a long time, I have it on blu-ray but I'm stuck taking care of my Mom's place while she is in the hospital and she has no blu-ray player.

Re: Five good/ very good films that nobody ever talks about

If I had watched it and this wasn't for just horror movies I would add "Hangover 3". It was really bad. "Pacific Rim" wasn't that good either I'm sad to say

Re: Five good/ very good films that nobody ever talks about

Definitely recommend Prince of Darkness, it's one of my favourites.

Re: Five good/ very good films that nobody ever talks about

Methinks the January/February Movie Night is going to have Prince of Darkness.

Time for a new thread....

Re: Five good/ very good films that nobody ever talks about

5. THE MEDUSA TOUCH (1978)

Never heard of this.

4.INNOCENT BLOOD(1992)

Back when I was a youngen, I watched this movie with a young lady.  We had relations right after it was done.  This movie makes me think of her.  She has since passed, and I hope she is in a better place.

3. RESURRECTION (1999)

Never seen it but want to.  Looks interesting.

2.PRINCE OF DARKNESS (1987)

Seen it.  Was ok.  Honestly, I don't remember much about it though.

1. HOLLOW MAN (2000)

I don't know, this movie seems to get a bit of respect.  I thought it was a pretty solid flick, Elisabeth Shue is hot, The invisible man sees her naked.  Good movie.

Re: Five good/ very good films that nobody ever talks about

hey ghostie !

5. no, it seems a lot of people haven't seen it. i saw it at the cinema when it first came out and have it on dvd. always liked it, probably a bit dated these days and cheesey and Richard Burton is hammy as he tended to be in this sort of film, but i like it very much. great music too.

4.what you said there, takes me back to something similar, the films involved with me were "Flash Gordon", "The Howling", " Raiders Of the Lost Ark". god, i loved that beautiful woman . the ending of mine isn't as sad as yours though my friend, she is still around and no it's not the wife.
3. another film i think is very good, yeah it does copy " Seven" a lot but i thought it  very good. have ordered it on dvd.not that it means anything but Christopher Lambert's second best film after "Greystoke".
2. a very under rated film, one of Carpenter's best, second only to "the Thing
1.glad you like it, again like it very much. does it get respect? not on here it seems, but don't care i like it.

Re: Five good/ very good films that nobody ever talks about

The Changeling and Cure should be up there

Re: Five good/ very good films that nobody ever talks about

On the horror genre:

Sweeney Todd (1936)
The Undying Monster (1942)
Corridors of Blood (1958)
Les yeux sans visage (1960)
Diary of a Madman (1963)

For sci-fi:

Them! (1954)
It! The Terror from Beyond Space (1958)
4D Man (1959)
The Day of the Triffids (1963)
Alphaville (1965)

Most of these movies are considered "B" but some deserve a much better rank.

Re: Five good/ very good films that nobody ever talks about

attack the block

Silent Night Deadly Night all the rage 30 years ago now hardly a blip
Grizzly

Re: Five good/ very good films that nobody ever talks about

^Silent Night Deadly Night, is always fun, still gotta check The Town That Dreaded Sundown.

Finally watched Prince of Darkness, so bad ass. Awesome story, fx, and over the top action.

Re: Five good/ very good films that nobody ever talks about

Glad to see someone mention UNDYING MONSTER,  ATTACK THE BLOCK,  DARK CIRCLES and PONTYPOOL.  MY thumb turns downward on MEDUSA TOUCH and HOLLOW MAN, though.

Re: Five good/ very good films that nobody ever talks about

I remember randomly seeing "Innocent blood" in the 90s and being under the impression that it's a mob flick.  So the scene where the chick turns for the first time and attacks some guy, somewhere in a car if I remember correctly, was one of the most effective scares of my life. I literally jumped from my chair. I have to rewatch that movie.
Thx for the reminder, dude!

Re: Five good/ very good films that nobody ever talks about

Yeah, Innocent Blood's a fun flick.  TONS of genre veteran cameos.
