PORTRAIT OF A ZOMBIE [2012]

Wow very cool hand held documentary like one with beautiful imagery. Cool little other Irish one that I enjoy a bunch these days. Like the story a bunch too. A very cool differnt take on Zombie stuff. Very fun to watch. Recommended strongly. smile

A working class Irish family is caught up in a zombie invasion of Dublin, Ireland. When their son, Billy, becomes a zombie the family chooses to take care of him in the home much to the chagrin of the neighbors and the local crime boss. Meanwhile, they've invited an American documentarian to film their situation and the film crew is caught up in the mayhem. Will the family prove that blood is thicker than water or will their love lead to their eventual doom? One thing is clear, for the zombies in Ireland, the famine is definitely over.

Frankenstein 1931

Finally got to see this today in full ,

I not really sure what make of it , I actually think it aged really well ,
as it was PG , I did not expect to be scary or creepy for these days.

I really liked that movie did not take long to get going and the movie flowed really well from start to end.

Also there one creepy scene also crazy too , I am talking one of the most famous science ,, which have spoofed for donkey's years , the ITS ALIVE  scene .

The acting. For that Scene was really good and  I did find some parts of the movie little funny .

I going to give it 7 out of 10 really good movie

Re: Last horror movie you watched?

^A true classic, Bride of Frankenstein is an amazing companion piece, and actually features parts of Shelley's original story that were skipped in the first flick.

The Mummy (1959) - 7.5/10

Here's another one of the many solid, Terence Fincher directed Hammer films of the 50's, this one starring Christopher Lee and Peter Cushing. Firstly, I'll say that Christopher Lee plays a fantastic Kharis, "The Mummy". The scene wherein he first emerges from the swamp is really creepily done, and at the same time quite badass. I thought that his physical stature, movements, and make-up were all well done and at least on par in this respect with the original Universal film.

All praise established, I also feel that there were small portions of the movie which felt uneven, or disruptive to the flow and feel of its story. Some of the extended "flashback" scenes may have had something to do with this. Despite this, 1959's The Mummy is a pretty good installment in Hammer Film's remakes of original Universal monster pictures.

I really liked it!

Was good from start to finish.

No painfully slow beginnings where nothing happens.

Torso (1973) - 7.5/10

I really enjoyed Sergio Martino's 1973's contribution to the giallo-horror sub-genre, "Torso" (aka, Carnal Violence). This sleazy giallo/slasher film is filled to the brim with two dynamic counter-figures: beautiful (often naked) college girls and creepy ass mofos. Pretty much every male in this film looks like he could be the killer, so the film does a fairly good job at keeping you guessing. After awhile, though, I was pretty positive as to who the killer must be, and at the film's conclusion, I was proved to be indeed correct. Having knowledge of the masked killer's identity didn't spoil the movie for me, however. I thoroughly enjoyed myself, despite (what I would consider to be) a few slow-ish scenes found throughout the film's running time. The last 15 minutes of Torso is especially intense and well done.

Certainly recommend this flick to giallo/slasher fans.
TORSO SATURATES THE SCREEN WITH BLOODY FRENZY!

I dig it as well.  Included it on one of my "more attention" lists.  An all but forgotten giallo which, for me, takes all the typical tropes of that sub-genre and cranks them up to 11 (including, admittedly, grievous improbability lol ).  Great flick.

Saw (uncut version) -  its a shame about the sequels, because the first is truly a brilliant film that still holds up after multiple viewings.
