Ah well no, I take HYPERION instead. Second best book for me along with Instrumentality Of Mankind best part is that Drunken Ship thing, humans flying through Hyperspace without anything WILD and Dune. big_smile

The Shrike is the most BADASS creature I've ever read about. Sick fuck bastard is. big_smile

Re: What R U Reading?

Haven't read Dark Towers yet, the ones I read are:

Pet Sematary
Needful Things
It
The Tommyknockers
The Regulators
Desperation
Salem's Lot
Carrie
Cujo
The Green Mile
The Shining
... I've read a lot but have so much more to finish haha!

I've read the Necronomicon once and loved it! That was back in high school so I'll have to re-read it again sometime soon. Btw your edition of it looks very cool, I've just got a beat up paperback

Re: What R U Reading?

A collection of PEARLS BEFORE SWINE comicstrips.

Re: What R U Reading?

I love this girl's stuff.

http://d.gr-assets.com/books/1313718171l/11043.jpg

As we walked along, rockets burst from the street lamps; we swallowed the asphalt road with a jungle roar and the houses with their closed eyes and geranium eyelashes; swallowed the telegraph poles trembling with messages; swallowed stray cats, trees, hills, hedges, Sabina’s labyrinthian smile on the keyhole. The door moaning, opening. Her smile closed. A nightingale disleafing melliferous honeysuckle. Honey-suckled. Fluted fingers. The house opened its green gate mouth and swallowed us. The bed was floating.

And HYPERION by Dan Simmons. Sick.

Still gotta read some Cormac McCarthy. Too bad about The Strain trilogy, but I am not surprised often the last book in a series is the worst. Writing a satisfying ending for everyone is nye impossible, and for some authors just writing a mediocre ending is hard lol

Very true and yeah the story for No Country is good, but the way Cormac writes is kinda weird to read, there is no punctuation other than periods so you cannot tell half the time whether it is someone talking or an action.

I haven't read The Dark Tower series either, but I hear great things. I'm a Stephen King fan, but I haven't read even near to most of his books! As far as I can remember, the following have all been very entertaining, scary reads:

Different Seasons
Four Past Midnight
Duma Key (I really think this is one of King's most underrated)
The Shining
Christine
Pet Sematary (I've read it twice...creepiest novel I've ever laid eyes on!)
9/22/63 (it's brilliant!)
The Dark Half
Salem's Lot
The Green Mile
The Girl Who Loved Tom Gordon (it's good, but would have worked better as a novella in one of his story compilation books)

I've read maybe half of The Regulators, but never finished it. I really should get back to it, and Desperation. And I'm a little half done with "The Long Walk" which is excellent so far.

Other then that, that's all I've read of King. hmm
He's such a prolific writer that it's almost difficult to keep up!

EDIT - Also, that's one cool looking edition of the Necronomicon, P!

That's what I hear from a good number of fellow horror readers. I may read 'IT' one of these days, but probably not anytime too soon. It's a pretty long book, and I've got too many other (someone shorter) books on my hands that I need to read first! Finished off SK's (aka, Richard Bachman's) "The Long Walk". The story itself is basically self-explained by the book's title, but it doesn't get monotonous. It's a good read...it's cold and cruel...very much like Stephen King's alter-ego, Richard Bachman.

Now reading:

Horror Cinema by Jonathan Penner & Steven Jay Schneider.
The full-page, colored pictures in this book are pretty fantastic!
