Topic: Stink of Flesh: Zombie Indie Genius!

Seriously this is one of the best low budget zombie movies ever made. not for great fx, not for great acting, but for top notch and crazy writing that is fantastic and also crosses all the lines your not supposed to cross. Its a great taboo film. Dont believe me? There are 2 reviews on the site that both say the same thing, you wanna get this flick!

Re: Stink of Flesh: Zombie Indie Genius!

Yea I really enjoyed the film as well. This film went to some weird places that have never been explored before in a zombie film. Its a little off beat but it has some cool characters and at times some really funny and wtf? moments..

Re: Stink of Flesh: Zombie Indie Genius!

It really is damn hilarious and the WTF moments make you shake your head and laugh all at once. had this of been shot wtih a bit better acting and on film it would have been a truly classic zombie film. That said it still kicks ass and anyone who loves zombie comedies needs to check it out.

Hey guys --

Thanks for all the kind words (here and on the podcast) about THE STINK OF FLESH, I really appreciate it!

The teaser trailer for my new movie, GIMME SKELTER (featuring Gunnar Hansen and Trent Haaga) is online now -- you can check it out at:

Hey Scott, good to see you found our forums.. I posted the Gimme Skelter trailer on the site awhile back when it was announced..

Re: Stink of Flesh: Zombie Indie Genius!

Re: Stink of Flesh: Zombie Indie Genius!

I need to check out Stink of Flesh.

Re: Stink of Flesh: Zombie Indie Genius!

Hey, I'd be more than happy to do another interview! I've got a new book out that needs all the help it can get, for one thing...

I'm gonna be getting back to work on editing GIMME SKELTER this week, as well as doing a series of video diaries about the post-production phase of the movie. And the kids' show pilot I wrote is shooting this month, directed by Steve Wang (DRIVE)!

All is madness!

Re: Stink of Flesh: Zombie Indie Genius!

Duhhh -- how 'bout I mention the title of the new book? It's called UNSAFE ON ANY SCREEN and it collects my movie review columns from The Weekly Alibi (sort of Albuquerque, NM's answer to LA Weekly). If you like Psychotronic magazine and stuff like that, you should dig UNSAFE! Check out the retarded commercial I made for the book (among other things) here (Not Safe For Work, by the way):

Re: Stink of Flesh: Zombie Indie Genius!

Hey guys --

I just posted the first GIMME SKELTER Video Blog:

I'm gonna try to do these once a week as post-production progresses, just to give people a look at how a no-budget movie comes together (and the things that can interfere with the process when you're not making any money from this stuff).

Lemme know what you think!

Re: Stink of Flesh: Zombie Indie Genius!

Re: Stink of Flesh: Zombie Indie Genius!

Hey Scott I dig the video blog.. Great stuff.. I dig the Bigfoot walk at the end.. That guy is way to good at doing that walk.. By the way man Cinema Wasteland hits this weekend!

Re: Stink of Flesh: Zombie Indie Genius!

I know, I wish like crazy I could make to CW, I haven't been to one in a long time...

By the way, that's Trent Haaga doing the Bigfoot walk!

Re: Stink of Flesh: Zombie Indie Genius!

This sort of thing is why I'm a professional lurker.  I prowl various web sites looking for gems such as this one.

I'm a big fan of zombie movies.  In fact, I think most movies made would be more entertaining if one would throw in a zombie apocalypse or two.

Imagine if you will;  Julia Robert's brain gettin' et by a ravenous zombie in Pretty Woman.....10X better and yet it would be such a slight change to the overall film.  Just a few lines really, then they could have moved on with the rest of the fairy tale.  As far as timing goes...I think it would have been best if the zombie appeared during the bath tub scene, so she could jump out and run around nude...never mind...I digress...

That's why I'm a professional lurker...I don't make sense even to myself...

It's funny how anyone low budget filmmaker with a video camera thinks he can make the next, great zombie film.  This one seems to be an exception.  I can't wait to check it out.

Thanks guys

Re: Stink of Flesh: Zombie Indie Genius!

Bought this one from the last remaining Sam the Record Man in Canada a few years back..Loved it

Re: Stink of Flesh: Zombie Indie Genius!

What an old thread that I missed.  Sam the Record Man wow I use to be a loyal local visitor to the one on Yonge st. many many years ago.
And I don't think I've seen The Stink Of Flesh since this topic started. I have the 2 Disc Special Edition and it needs a rewatch very soon.
