Horror Movie Fanatic Wanted!

Herner Klenthur

logoIs your favourite genre of film the one that involves zombies, vampires or deranged killers? Do you recognize that Twilight is not horror and “Bella” and “Edward” are a stain on the vampire genre? Well that means you might be a great writer for our site. Did you disagree with everything I just said but still love the horror genre?

That means you have independent thought and would still make a great writer for this site.

HorrorMovies.ca one of the leading online genre blogs is once again actively seeking to grow out team of writers. The last time we put out the call Jason McDonald joined our team and has been a huge hit with our readers! Its time however for us to add another name to our team of volunteer bloggers.

We are looking for two particular roles, a day-to-day news contributor, and a features writer. If you read our site and think ‘wow I can do that’ or better yet think you can do better we want to hear from you!

Day to Day News Writer

The position of day to day news writer requires 30 minutes to an hour a day to contribute news. You must live and breathe genre news and be capable of contributing daily. You should have some experience blogging either in WordPress or some similar platform.

We want somebody who is as passionate as we are and wants to contribute. Although it requires only a small amount of time your contributions to our site will be read by thousands of people and its important to us that you take it seriously.

Features Writer

We are also looking to add a weekend features writer. This role requires one to two updates per week with a particular focus on generating interesting and entertaining top lists as well as contributing editorial content which will engage the community, Your article will make readers think, debate, disagree, call you an idiot and from time to time laugh in your face. Sometimes  they might even agree with you!

If you want to engage with like minded genre fans and are brave enough to share your opinion in a community known for its outspoken readers then we want you! Although both of these positions are volunteer since we are a fan site ( this is not our jobs )  you will be writing for one of the largest and most passionate horror movie sites in the world.

We will not pressure you, we will not stress you out and we wont chase you. You will succeed as a writer for our site because you love the genre as much as we do,

If this sounds like you please email scoops@horror-movies.ca with what role you are applying for, why you should be chosen and what makes you a great team member. As much as I will do my best to answer all enquiries I can not promise that so don’t be upset if I don’t. If you applied in the past feel free to do so again.

When applying please include a SAMPLE article.

I’ve always loved how Michael just walks after people and always ends up killing them. I think thats part of why he’s my favourite horror killer! :)

I have a movie collection that would intrigue a horror fan for days on end. I live and breathe the genre. However I do not write “good” (yes, that was intentional). However, Instead of wallowing in my GED sorrows, I will now watch “Savage Weekend” and wonder what could have been if only Idve said no to drugs! Many, many ,many drugs!

Also, to the above comment, the word “blonde” isn’t necessary. Your words are sufficient enough.

As much as I’d like to apply, once classes begin, it’ll be hard to find enough time to write. Looking forward to see who the new writer will be.

@BlondRobynGirl After I read about Persistence Hunting it made Micheal and Jason that much cooler. Basically our very first way of hunting was to literally walk animals to death, preventing them from eating or sleeping until they keeled over.

A couple things you need to know if you hire me:
        1. I live in Texas, so hopefully that’s not a problem
        2. I am 11

But, if you look at a link to my listal profile, you might think of me as a good reviewer ( I am 11, so you might not think I am a good reviewer, but I am new to reviewing, so please hire me)

My horror movie knowledge has been growing since I was seven, I feel I could be a good resource here. Would be great to become part of the HorrorMovie team, though I’m very critical of new horror films, lately it’s been really difficult for me to be impressed, or scared. Though I can appreciate quite a few films, it’s just a matter of finding them!
