Fleischer to Helm Zombieland

Ruben Fleischer is in negotiations to direct Zombieland for Columbia Pictures according to Variety. Apparently the zombie-comedy is now getting the go as a pre-SAG/DGA strike film and the are hoping to get it started by April. The script was written by scribes Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick.

The film centers on the most frightened guy on Earth who leads a motley crew of survivors in a world overrun by zombies. Title refers to an old funeral home that is turned into a morbid attraction called Zombieland.

Now we have a had a fair share of zombie comedies in the past but I think if some big guns are on board this one could work out. We will have to see who is cast in the lead first because of course every comedy needs a comedian to work.
