Cloverfield & Midnight Meat Train Ratings
The last time I reported on the movie Cloverfield I had probably upwards of half the members thirsting for my blood when I tricked y'all into thinking I had found the official title way back in October. To quote Fearless Leader from the boards: "lol golden is gonna get lynched..." Well, to semi-rectify that major hilarious incident (hilarious at least in my eyes), I will give y'all the straight poop concerning this piece of news concerning the flick. Plus some bonus news concerning the release of Clive Barker's Midnight Meat Train.Boxofficemojo got the list of the latest MPAA rulings. Cloverfield snagged a PG-13 rating and Meat Train grabbed a nice, wet R rating. Before everyone starts going off on how Cloverfield might suck as its not R, the film might rely more on suspense and less is more, something that shooting in the 1st person might do quite well. PG-13 also means many more people can come and see the film. I don't expect I Am Legend size crowds, but Cloverfield probably will do decently.
Cloverfield was rated PG13 for "Violence, Terror, Disturbing Images". When Clive Barker's name appeared on the sheet for films to review, the MPAA must have had the infamous "oh crap" moment. Midnight Meat Train got its R for "Sequences of Strong Bloody Gruesome Violence, Grisly Images Involving Nudity, Sexual Content and Language." My mouth is watering at that.
Cloverfield hits screens on January 18, 2008 with its Asylum tie-in Monster hitting on the Tuesday before on January 15, 2008. Clive Barker's Midnight Meat Train is due out May 16, 2008.
