Sam Raimi in Hell

After what seemed a surefire shotgun blast to his career with the very bad Spiderman 3 (despite its ownage of the box office) Sam Raimi seems to be returning to his roots in the horror genre.  Variety got word that Raimi will be directing a film called Drag Me To Hell, based off a script he and his brother Ivan wrote back in the early 1990s.

Without a doubt Raimi is a Master of Horror with the Evil Dead films under his belt, he is jumping back into the genre, something I know fans have been wanting for years.  Hell is described as a "morality tale about the unwitting recipient of a supernatural curse."  Co-founder of Raimi's horror house Ghost House Rob Tapert had this to say:

"Sam calls it a 'spook-a-blast', a wild ride with all the thrills and chills that 'Evil Dead' delivered without relying on the excessive violence of that film."

All I can say is folks, Hot Damn Raimi is coming back to the genre!  Steven Spielberg and Peter Jackson also need to come back to the genre and make a flick.  Speaking of Jackson, it is confirmed that Jackson will produce The Hobbit, but won't direct.  Sam Raimi has said he would take the director's chair if offered and if Jackson gave him his blessing as its a known fact the Tolkein's want Jackson to helm.  I personally would like to see Ridley Scott helm Hobbit but whatever.  Drag Me To Hell at the moment doesn't have a release date.
