The Cloverfield Monster bites?

Well with all the Cloverfield hype continually building, theories are running rampant with what the monster actually is or does. I for one am trying not to get caught up in the hype, this way my expectations arent too high. However, my friend recently pointed out that he thinks the monster's bite is deadly or possibly causes more monsters.

He's obviously taking a stab at it but he thinks being bitten by it (or possibly other smaller monsters) causes the person to act as a host for a new monster. He came to this conclusion during the official trailer there is a part with a woman behind a screen who appears about ready to burst open. I was skeptical at first, but after checking out some TV spots, I found one with a part where there is a pale lady with medics and you can hear someone yell "Bite! We Have a Bite!" shortly after they show her. Then they show someone behind the screen who looks like something is ready to burst out of them. Hmmmm.....

The part I am talking about it at the end of this high-quality clip below. Could the monsters bites be causing people to act as a host body for smaller monsters? Or is there something else going on? Watch the clip and see what you think...
