Recent days have been crazy for the redux of The Wolf Man after director Mark Romanek suddenly left. Names from superhack Brett Ratner to Frank Darabont and even Master of Horror John Landis began to crop up all over the internet, with Ratner until recently apparently getting the gig.

Well folks, the wait is over. After apparently combing through every director in town, Universal has chosen its director. The folks over at CHUD got the word. Drum Roll Please.

The Director for The Wolf Man is....Joe Johnston! Johnston's directorial career includes Hildago, Jurassic Park III, October Sky, Jumanji, Honey, I Shrunk The Kids, and The Rocketeer. A fairly diverse slate of films he can now add Horror to the mix. If there isn't any other delays, The Wolf Man is due out in 2009.
