Englund Directing Next Feature, The Vij

It appears as though rather than carrying on with his acting career Robert Englund feels that in his old age he would rather direct. Variety has announced that Robert has moved on to direct The Vij, a new dark gothic fantasy in which Christopher Lee is attached to star.

Based on an eponymous novel by Russian writer Nikolaj Gogol, "The Vij" revolves around an evil genie who conditions the actions of a young priest, leading him to commit murder and fall in love with an old witch who is actually not what she seems.

Joining Christopher Lee is Englund himself along with Rome based actress Olga Schuvalova. Shooting is scheduled to begin in April in the Lazio region of Italy. Most of the shooting will be done in the uninhabited medieval village of Civita di Bagnoregio.
