Jason Has Been Cast? - HorrorMovies.ca

Not to long ago Michael Bailey Smith had come out and said he was on the short list of people to play Jason. Well today according to B-D it looks like his co-star from Hills Have Eyes 2, Derek Mears is in final talks to play Jason Voorhees.

Derek Mears is another stunt guy who has also done a lot of work inside big costumes for horror films. He played The Father in Pro-Life, the werewolf in Cursed and also portrayed Chameleon in The Hills Have Eyes II. So he is another guy who knows what he is doing when it comes to prosthetics and actually acting as opposed to wearing a mask and walking.

Marcus Nispel will direct for Platinum Dunes with a script by Damian Shannon and Mark Swift. Jared Padalecki has already been cast as the lead teenager. Right now the film is scheduled to hit theaters on February 13th, 2009.
