Tom Woodruff Joins Cirque du Freak

While I dont expect the film to be geared towards most of us, the adaptation of Darren Shan's teen book series Cirque du Freak is definately gaining some momentum.  We've previously announced that the film will have stars such as Salma Hayek, Ken Watanabe, and John C Reilly but now comes word of a good FX man joining the fold.  Dread Central reports that Tom Woodruff has joined Cirque du Freak, most likely to create the many sideshow freaks that are part of the story.  Tom has an impressive background in the horror community having done the creature designs on several Tremors movies, 4 movies in the Alien series, as well as Nicholson's film Wolf.

I know as horror hounds its tough to get excited for a film based on a teen book series, but I have read the first three books which the movie is based on and I am quite excited.  It may just provide with some dark visuals and interesting storyline that can be enjoyed by horror fans with their whole family.

Cirque Du Freak tells the frightening tale of a boy who unknowingly breaks a 200-year-old truce between two warring factions of vampires. Pulled into a fantastic life of misunderstood sideshow freaks and grotesque creatures of the night, one teen will vanish from the safety of a boring existence and fulfill his destiny in a place drawn from nightmares.
