Poultrygeist Hitting Theaters?

After a long run on the festival circuit, it appears Lloyd Kaufman's horror/musical Poultrygeist: Night of the Chicken Dead, might be hitting a theater near you.....well its hitting one theater near you if you live in New York City. TwitchFilm reports that Poultrygeist is going to be hitting one theater in New York on Friday, May 9th. This is not a one time screening either as it is set to have seven showings a day on the weekend and five showings a day during the week.

It is unknown if this release will spread to more than one theater or even other parts of the country, but since Troma is based out of New York I doubt it. However, this release is still a big step forward for Kaufman because Poultrygeist has been doing only festival screenings for what feels like forever! It will be nice to see if people hit the cinema to check this one out.

For those who live in New York City, the Poultrygeist release will be playing at CC Village East Cinemas at 2nd Avenue and 12th Street. Lloyd Kaufman is rumored to be attending all the Friday screenings, so I suggest going the 9th if you can. Tickets are already up for internet purchase for all screenings here.
