The Machine Girl DVD Art & Specs

Just the other day I posted a report that it appeared The Machine Girl was heading to DVD in the US on June 3rd. Seeing as though it hasnt even seen full theatrical release in Japan yet, I was a little skeptical that this was making it to DVD in the US so early. Well all my fears of the release date being false have been put to rest. Fangoria reported that Media Blasters is releasing the DVD under their Tokyo Shock label on June 3rd, and they even got their hands on some specs and cover art.

The Machine Girl DVD will be UNCUT and will be in anamorphic 1.85:1 widescreen format. Sound will be in 5.1 with both English and Japanese language tracks and optional English subtitles. Special features are going to be the theatrical trailer as well as a behind the scenes featurette. The official DVD artwork is shown to the right and is nothing more than a spruced up version of the poster. They made the cover a little brighter, photoshopped in a mountain, and added a fancy title logo. Still, it gets the point across and looks good to me(and it makes me really want some Captain Morgan)

The Machine Girl follows Ami, a tough but otherwise average high school girl, trying to lead a normal life. Her world comes crashing down when her brother and his friend are killed by ruthless bullies. As Ami tracks down the ringleader, she is surprised to discover the bullies' association with a sinister ninja yakuza family. When she goes after her revenge, she soon finds herself in over her head and minus her left arm. Barely surviving, Ami escapes and seeks out shelter from two kindly garage mechanics. They take pity on her, fitting her with a high-powered machine gun where her arm used to be. She then teams up with the chainsaw-wielding mother of her brother's slain friend and together they unleash an unholy, non-stop, over-the-top kill fest against the equally creative machinery (drill bra, flying guillotine) of their relentless ninja enemies.
