Eli Roth Going Soft On Us? - HorrorMovies.ca

I know Eli Roth has a lot of haters and this is definitely something that will give them more ammunition when it comes to arguing about the guy. Personally I am a fan of what he has been able to accomplish so far but I am worried about what is being reported on Yahoo News.

Apparently he wants his next film to be PG-13 so that he can hit all audiences and at the same time he said, "This will be my first big-budget, PG-13, mass-destruction movie," he said backstage at the music industry's NME Awards in Los Angeles. "I went total chaos and pandemonium."

He wouldn't reveal the details of his new film but this is obviously not Trailer Trash and it's hard for me to picture Cell as a PG-13 movie. So what project could it be? More importantly though why is he even considering a PG-13 rating? "I feel like I pushed the violence in R movies about as far as I can push it. I feel like I'm bled out. I wanna switch it up".

Now honestly I think Eli is disappointed with the box office take from Hostel: Part II and is still feeling the sting. He also said, "Everyone I know has been saying 'When are you gonna do a movie my kids can see?' And finally, I'm gonna make a movie that 13-year-old kids can see."

I can see wanting to make a movie that everyone can actually see in theater. But to me aiming for a certain rating in the first place ALWAYS means something bad is on the horizon. However Roth said he is going to shoot some extra "gratuitous violence" to include on the Unrated DVD. So get ready folks for some kid-friendly Eli Roth sometime in the future.
