Two New Horrorfest 3 Titles

Last years Horrorfest really left a bad taste in my mouth so hopefully this year they will be able to bounce back. So in order to do that this year they will be bringing six acquired titles and two After Dark produced ones. After Dark want to do this so they can control what type of horror films they are showing aka slasher, haunted house, creature feature, etc.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, The two titles they will be producing themselves are Faithless and Perkins 14. Stewart Hopewell's "Faithless" follows a young woman trying to escape an abusive past by moving to Atlanta, but discovers more cruelty awaits her. Craig Singer's "Perkins' 14," developed from a winning idea by Jeremy Donaldson in a February Massify.com pitch contest, is a killer thriller involving the arrest of a suspected murderer.

The first acquired title they announced a couple days ago was The Broken. The film is directed by Sean Ellis and stars Lena Headey. Below is a lengthy synopsis for the film:

On a typically gloomy day in London, Gina, a young and beautiful radiologist, is sure she just saw herself driving by--in her own car. When she follows her mysterious doppelganger into an unfamiliar apartment, she isn’t quite sure she can trust her own eyes until she spots a photo of herself and her father on the entryway table. Understandably spooked, she dashes back down to her car. Soon she finds herself in the hospital, unable to remember what has put her there or much about the strange woman. What Gina does know is her boyfriend seems different, the ceiling above the bathtub leaks blood in her dreams, and broken mirrors are becoming a recurring theme in her life. Increasingly paranoid, Gina is experiencing a bizarre and horrific version of her former life, and as things spiral out of control, she must escape from, or come to grips with, her new reality.

Apparently another film that they have lined up is called Slaughter. Now it is believed that this could be the film that won the Slamdance screenplay competition. Victor Garcia was attached to direct that film. So what is going to happen next year?

If they even have a horrorfest next year that is, they will have all eight films be ones that they produce which I'm strongly against. They had always been helping out the indies and now they will just be cultivating their own films that will have scripts that are approved by After Dark and there is too much about it that I just don't like. Hopefully they rethink their plan.
