Plan 9 From Outter Space Redux?!

Filed Under : General Horror, Horror Sequels & Remakes, You know the remake trend is getting outta hand when:
Well, #1 would be a very close guess (don't get any ideas Michael...or the other two from Platinum Dunes), but you'd be wrong. The third answer however is correct. Ed Wood, a man who while showing a deep love and passion for filmmaking, was hopelessly incompetent with direction. His films now are revered as some of the worst, yet in an odd way very enjoyable, films of all time. One film however is held up as a the Citizen Kane for 'So Bad Its Good'. His 9th Symphony, his magnum opus if you will was Plan 9 From Outter Space. Plan 9 is the best 'So Bad Its Good' film I've probably ever seen. The inane dialog, comically under and over acting, ridiculous 'special' effects (and no he didn't use tire-hubs, but models bought from a store), and the creme de la creme: ten seconds of Bela Lugosi sniffing a flower and walking out of his house shortly before his death and an obvious Lugosi Shemp shuffling around with the trademark cape held in front of him. Plan 9 is such a campy movie that some might say holds no redeeming value and its for that very reason its loved so. Loved so much apparently, it's gonna get a serious remake. Darkstone Entertainment is set to remake the film with its founder John Johnson directing. They have a website up concerning the film which you can check out here. The remake will focus on the serious elements that Wood tried for but failed utterly. For those unfamiliar, Wood's film dealt with aliens bringing back the recently deceased in order to take over the planet. Cult icon Vampira was one of the two recently deceased for the film. The film will also only be titled Plan 9. So like The Omen redux was June 6, 2006 a release date of September 9, 2009 has been set. Thoughts or comments?
