NOES Remake Gets A Writer

The Nightmare On Elm Street remake has just gotten a new scribe. Warner Bros. has hired Wesley Strick to re-launch Freddy into the new millenium. The studio wants to keep a dark tone with the high school setting. WB also wants to delve deeper into the psychology of nightmares and Krueger himself.

Of course no word on who will play Freddy Krueger yet. I still have a feeling that this is going to be one of the hardest remakes for any company to pull off. Robert Englund is, and always will be, Freddy. I won't say it can't be done because Dawn of the Dead really surprised the hell out of me but this one is highly unlikely.

Warner Bros want to have this thing all together in time for the 25th Anniversary of the original. Now that means they better get this thing off the ground pretty quickly. It also a bad sign that they may end up rushing out the film just to hit that due date. Hopefully they will change that mentality.
