hey everybody. this is a quick update on "high moon". i apologize for not being more consistent blogging about the journey to getting this film made. but. i promise to find ways to make this happen when we get on set. and. make it fun.

i am reading "existentialism from dostoevsky to sartre" right now. i have spent the summer reading. while waiting. and. waiting. and. waiting. this has been a journey about patience. which is not my strongest characteristic. but. it has remained exciting. even when the wait has been agonizing. lol. i think when you live with something for a while. and. you are so ready to take that potential and make it bear fruit. It is inevitable that there is some jamming up of all the emotions. and that is can be painful. i imagine like giving birth. the excitement. the expectation. then the actual…giving birth.

right after finishing the benefit for my short film "the sea is all i know" with melissa leo and peter gerety giving stellar performances at the reading ---[btw. if you have a chance to see melissa leo's amazing performance in "frozen river", it is not to be missed! check out the article on her in the new york times as well as her cover article in filmmaker magazine] ---i jumped into working on my character for "high moon". I am fortunate that my acting coach susan batson [who I have been working with long before she worked with nicole kidman, juliette binoche, tom cruise, p. diddy and a slew of others] was in new york and available. i begin to work on it in her master class. it had been a while since i had a full character arc to work on and it has been am amazing experience getting to know this character from the actor journey rather than the writer's journey.

my actor contract is signed. we are now just a couple of weeks out. i am still waiting for my writer's contract to finish being negotiated. we are scheduled to go to cowboy boot camp which is cool.

the most exciting part of course is finally being able to work with sean bean, cillian murphy and rutger hauer to name a few of the awesome actors that will be bringing this story alive. i must admit though that even though i speak of it. it doesn't quite seem real. even with signed contracts [and the director. other wonderful actors. and. studio. which i am not at liberty to write about yet] all in place. until Iiam on set. it lives in this crazy anticipatory place.

but finally, here is another exciting moment of the journey…a first glimpse of the "high moon" set under construction.

welcome all, to bliss, missouri.
