Peter Block Gets A Bigger Boat

Many of you probably have no idea who Peter Block is. He was the president of acquisitions and co-producer at Lionsgate during its hey day. Now it seems like they are determined to drive their movies into the groud.. But anyway today it was announced that he has launched his own film company, A Bigger Boat.

Obviously the title comes from the famous line in Jaws. Without getting to extremely technical he has teamed up with Overture and Alliance Films. Since he has some many connections from his days at Lionsgate he hopes that those will help him to grow quicker than other upstarts.

An interesting note in this article is that one of the projects that he may already have for A Bigger Boat is the John Carpenter directed Dark Corners. Of course this new film company is going to be much like Lionsgate and create mainly genre films that cost from $10 to $20 million. No telling how quickly this new company will make an impact but one can only hope that it happens soon.
